I am going to a welcome home party for my brother-in-law tomorrow. He just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. I am supposed to bring a dessert. Any ideas?

EASY RED VELVET CAKE

1 1/2 c. Wesson oil
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 oz. red food coloring

ICING:

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar

Mix oil, add sugar and eggs. Add milk, vanilla, and food coloring. Then add dry ingredients. Bake in 9x13 inch pan for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

Mix the icing and add to the cake when cool.

I would make something that is comforting, as apple pie and good chocolate cake or a lava cake or a strawberry shot cake, if you need any recipes , try :

Anything with ice-cream over the top. Pie, cobbler, or choc. cake. Im sure anything would be LOVED! ( even without the icecream) :)
