I just started taking Lyrica to treat my Fibro. I've taken only 3 75mg doses so far (150 twice a day) and I feel kinda weird. A little dizzy and just kinda out of it. I know this sounds strange but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about! What I would like to know is: is this normal? will it go away eventually? and have you had good results with Lyrica?
Thank you in advance!
Tammy

I went to the Pfizer website and looked at their reccomended dosage for Fibro.

Management of Fibromyalgia

The recommended dose of LYRICA for fibromyalgia is 300 to 450 mg/day. Dosing should begin at 75 mg two times a day (150 mg/day) and may be increased to 150 mg two times a day (300 mg/day) within 1 week based on efficacy and tolerability. Patients who do not experience sufficient benefit with 300 mg/day may be further increased to 225 mg two times a day (450 mg/day). Although LYRICA was also studied at 600 mg/day, there is no evidence that this dose confers additional benefit and this dose was less well tolerated. In view of the dose-dependent adverse reactions, treatment with doses above 450 mg/day is not recommended. Because LYRICA is eliminated primarily by renal excretion, the dose should be adjusted for patients with reduced renal function.

I have been taking Lyrica for over a yr. I take 150mg a day. Initially I took 50 mg every morning & 100 mg at bedtime. I felt a little spacey during the day & requested that my dr change it to the full amt before bedtime. The spacey feeling has gone away since. Part of the symptoms I was having with fibro included dizziness so I never associated it with Lyrica. Any side effects with any medication will be magnified at higher dosages. Since Lyrica has been approved by the FDA for treatment of fibromyalgia, the therapeutic dosages have increased. As far as the benefit of Lyrica for me, it has been wonderful. My pain level has gone from 8-9 to 4-6 most of the time. I would talk to my dr about lowering the dose. The best pain coverage is thought to be with a twice a day or a three times a day dosing. But, I , like many fibromyalgia pts, don't clear drugs as quickly as most ppl.

I take Lyrica as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibro, plus nerve damage and disc bulge. However I am ONLY on 25mgs one pill at night before bed and no more. I am not sure why you are on such a HIGH DOSE just for Fibro? Try reducing the dose, start with 25 mgs at night before bed and see how you get on. Only twice have I needed to take an extra 25 mgs during the day. Yes I have had excellent results and no weight gain.

I've been reading up on Lyrica, to decide if I want to ask my doctor. Everything I've read has said dizziness is one of the side effects. The biggest drawback I see is weight gain. I already have hypothyroid and don't want anything else to deter my constant struggle with weight.

I have heard good things about Lyrica though, and I would advise you to keep track of the side effects, but give your body time to adjust to the drugs. I wish you good luck and hope you feel better soon!
