No, of course not. You need to brush them, you need to cuddle with them, you need to walk them, you need to give them shots and take care of their health, you need to pick hair off your clothes, you need to pick up the poo, you need to train them not to pull, you need to love them, you need to teach them to be civilized, you need to buy them toys, you need to keep them from chewing up your house, you need to snuggle with them.

Maybe you should get a goldfish. Those are great pets.

They become family members rather than just pets, they don't just go off by themselves after half an hour of being with you like many others do, they need human company and can't be put in a cage. They also cost ALOT, some even use up as much money as a baby would.
They are brilliant pets if you have the time, energy, effort and money to provide for their needs, but once you get a dog you'll realise what you've been missing all those years.

Definitely get a dog suited to your lifestyle if you want a very interactive and affectionate animal.

Well ,
I have a dog and i love it so much i think it is not a good pet i think it is part of my family!
Dogs are great to have around with you! They make you feel at home if you choose a certain dog that you really love and you are sure you will take care of it , it will love every single day! I have a Golden Retriever and it is so cute and fun very friendly when the dog is around. But you have to be careful what type of dog that you are getting if you want a playful dog you have to make sure you are getting a playful dog , if you wan ta dog that is quiet you have to make sure you are getting a dog that is quiet! My dog is a playful cute dog and i am happy with the chose i made to get a beautiful , loving Golden Retriever! If you really want a dog you get a dog!

We have a lab/Weimeraner mix that is great company. She's very loving (granted, even more so when you have food), and very intelligent--she has learned several commands we didn't know we were teaching her. Some dogs will be better company than others--my aunt has an evil little Bichon who bites, runs away from her, and makes messes on the floor all the time. The difference is how he was trained--he minds better when she's not there, because she doesn't make him behave. If you work with them, and teach them, they will be very good pets.

Yes!

if you're considering a dog you may want to get a book on dog breeds and see which one fits in with your life style. Toy dogs are good for apartments, but if you live in the country or in a suburb depending on your income big dogs are nice to have but if they have long coats, they shed a good amount of hair and can be high maintainance.

some hound breeds like beagles and basset hounds are good family dogs. I live with a beagle and pug, both are nice dogs and get along well . From what I've seen they both like other dogs and people. If you can't afford a purebred dog there's several dog rescues and shelters, where you can adopt one or a mutt.

But keep in mind personalities vary in dogs, plus it depends on what type of dog you're looking for.

yes dogs do make great pets. They are very intelligent. I have a great story for you. I had a candle lit in my bathroom while i was showering one morning and after i got dressed and everything My sister and i left for work. We always go to the gym on our lunch break but that day i forgot my gym bag. Mind you our dog is in the back yard and the sliding glass doors are closed but not locked. On our lunch break my sis took me home to get the gym bag & we walk through the house & smell burning. The dog was in the house I said crap i forgot to blow out the candle. My bedroom door was closed (the master so i had a bathroom in my bedroom) the bathroom door closed and slider closed. The dog thought we were in the house and new something wasn't right so he used his paws to open the sliding glass door to save us because he sensed the fire. If it wasnt for our dog and us coming home we wouldn't have had a home. Dogs have a great instinct and they know when to protect there owner.

Dogs make fantastic pets and are good for your health. Petting them lowers your heart beat and is unconciously calming. Walking them keeps you fit, and you have to go wether you want to or not, wait till you see pleading eyes.
Talking to them all the time, and you do, stops the feeling of being alone. Cuddling them and playing with them keeps you young at heart. They always protect you, they are your best friend. They are totally dependent on you. LOVE THEM xxx

Most dogs do. But unless you have time for one maybe you should consider a pet that needs less maintainance. Also if you have limited space you probably shouldn't get a dog!!!

I have the greatest dog I have ever had. She is a dachshund named Lucy. But, dogs take time. If it is an inside dog, they are waiting for you to come home and let them out to potty. So, you can't be gone extremely long periods of time. They require attention. Money for food. But, if you can give all that up, you have a great companion!

I think they do, but I am a dog person.

If you are willing to clean up after them, train them, generously share your life, your time and your love, but be the leader and their go to person; have the resources to make sure they are taken care of, and can open your heart to a set of adoring eyes that think you are a hero, and a tail that lets you know they are glad to see you, then yes. If not, then please reconsider; all dogs deserve a good home.
