get a ps3 it is worth it by far.

i have done some price comaring and ranted about itbut ill sum it up for you.

xobx360 if you want it to have even simmilar quality to the ps3 then you will have to spend a whole mess more money.

if you get an xbox360 elite and then get the HD DVD player and wireless internet as well as xbox live for a year you will be spending over $850 and it still wont be as good as the ps3 because your games are still DVD9 so they are going to have poor graphics and a long game or a short crappy game with good graphics.

if you get a PS3 and buy it a 120gig HDD and an HDMI cable (it allready has free internet service and wifi and it plays the games in HD becasue they are on blu ray disks which are 20gig disks and it upscales your non HD games to 9:16 for use on Hd tv's) you will be spending only bout $700 because the 60 gig is now $500 and it is about $200 worth of hard drive and cable

add this together and youve got

full potential for Xbox360 is 120gig HDD, wifi, HD movies, and internet play

PS3 upgrades include 120gig HDD (you can go bigger but you cant get bigger than 120 on 360), and HDMI cable

Xbox360 upgraded to full potential: $900 to $950 and it only plays DVD9 games
Xbox360 Elite upgraded to full potential: $850 to $900 and the games are only in DVD9
PS3 upgraded to have simmilar parts as a fully upgraded Xbox360: only about $700 now becasue the 60gig and the 80gig are the same if you plan on ripping out the HDD anyway. so buy a 60gig for $500 and add $200 worth of parts to it.

overall PS3 is a better system for a whol hell of a lot less money

I'm female and I think it's definately worth it (even if I do spend most of my time watching my boyfriend play F1!).

Sony have just announced the new price drop - its on www.yahoo.co.uk - its now going to be £349, although you can purchase a slightly cheaper one that Sony are bringing out at £299 - although this is with two less USB slots, 20GB less of memory, no memory card reader and no backwards compatibility (not good if you have quite a few PS1 games).

Back to the PS3 - the graphics are fantastic, although the XBox owners do have the advantage of having better games, this will change in the next two months (specifically with PES7 and Jericho being released).

Controls are easy, really responsive, plus my colleague at work has just sent his Xbox back after four weeks because of hardware fault (just as Halo was released!!).

Good luck!

Sure. A lot of games are coming. Sales are coming.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

Almost a third of XBOX 360 are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.
Let's compare them

PS3 has 7+1 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3x2
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual DVD (9.5 gb).
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $

Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. To estimate its power (roughly) - take 8600 Ultra nvidia graphics card, multiply it by 2 - get a result, still PS3 stronger, because 8600 Ultra runs on 400 Mhz and RSX runs on 550 Mhz.

PS3 has a chip from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This card is on sale for PC. The price is around 350$.

Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.

Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.

In 2008 we'll get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4 and other great exclusives. Here is the great link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......

PS3 online world will be free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console.

Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years.

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it.

Wait till sales, i got my boyf one when they first came out. Not worth over £500, wait till sales. For HD gaming both PS3 and Xbox are amazing, depending on the quality of the TV they are played on. Game play wise, i would have to say the Xbox gets my vote. Even though iv always had a PlayStation, there is just something extra with the Xbox. Ether way I'm sure you will have many years of thumb numbing fun!

If you're in the UK wait about a week. On the 10th the 40GB (with no PS2 b/c or Wifi) is released for £299 and the 60GB goes down to £349 with 2 games.
Doubt they'll reduce it again for awhile ( though you may get some bundles at various shops)

Oh, and angelxincarnate. No, it's not true.

it's a matter of your own taste. wether you get a 360 or a ps3, they're both worth it. don't know what the christmas holiday holds as far as sales...but each console just had a drop, so it might be a while before the next one. sony says they're not having another one till they phase out the 60 gig models, then the 80 gig will be 500 dollars.

I'd wait til after Christmas, or go for a short break to Dubai where PS3 plus one game is £297.00p.
