Don't use it. It's toxic and has caused permanent neurological and kidney damage to cats, sometimes fatally.

Hartz Mountain is also bad stuff.

A dose of Frontline or Advantage, which actually works and will not harm your cat, costs only about $13 for a treatment that will be effective for at least a month.

Trying to save a few bucks by using a pet store flea treatment can lead to your spending hundreds of dollars to try to save your cat, and possibly having it die.

Yeah, I'm afraid the stuff that actually works is kind of pricey. You could buy something cheaper like Sergeants but it wouldn't work, so it would be a bigger waste of money.

I had a lady and her cat in my surgery a few weeks ago that had a lesson for all pet owners: she'd bought Bob Martin flea treatment for her cat because in her own words 'she wanted to save money' - and she now had a £140 bill for her cat's toxic reaction to the Bob Martin flea treatment. Now that's what you call ironic.

EDIT: yes, internet buying would be an option but BE CAREFUL. You're in danger of not getting a genuine product - if you go down this route, save a Frontline box from the vets and make sure what you buy looks EXACTLY the same - and check the expiry date on the pack!

That stuff is total garbage! Do not use Hartz or Sargents or anything else you can buy at the supermarket. Yes, Advantage and Revolution and Frontline are more expensive but they work and they won't kill your cat. Those cheap brands are known to cause a lot of trouble. I used Hartz on a stray cat I have in my yard and it caused a bald spot. I will never use it again. Do some research, you'll come across stories about those brands.

I wish the stuff worked, but besides just not working, it is dangerous! I've seen animals seizuring from Sargeants and Hartz flea drops, and I've seen them die from it as well. I wouldn't personally ever use it on any animal.

FYI, flea collars are a waste of money in my opinion (fleas have to actually crawl across collar to even have a chance of picking up the chemical that is supposed to kill them, and most fleas stay around tail of animal), and can be dangerous by causing skin irritation or poisoning if an animal chews and swallows parts of one.
Same goes for flea shampoo. The chemicals in the shampoo aren't safe for young animals, and in older animals, it's just worthless. I wish it worked.

Flea prevention purchased from a veterinarian is expensive but best of all its safe, and has a much better chance of actually preventing fleas.

Please don't use over the counter flea remedies. There is a higher incidence of animals going into seizures with these products. This happened to my daughter's cat. There is no cure for this and it's wait and see if they will survive. They washed the cat down with Dawn liquid to cut the oil, but the seizure lasted for over 3 days. Very sad to see. She did survive.
Hartz, I've heard has had many problems with this, which they deny.

If you use eBay, you can find Frontline there for much cheaper than vet's price. That's where I get my Frontline for my kitties. I've gotten some for around $25 for a pack of three and even as low as $15 a pack. :)
