Before I could answers this I researched the dictionary for a better description of "coincidences". Here is one of the definitions: "A remarkable concurrence of events, ideas, etc., apparently by mere chance."

The keywords here are remarkable and chance. I decide to go to the store and just happen to run into an old friend. Is this a coincidence? I don't think so. I decide to go to the store and my car is hit by a vehicle running a red light. Is this a coincidence? I don't think so. It's called an accident. In either of these cases, a few seconds difference would have produced different results.

I have a friend woh was received a jury summons. He didn't desire to go. In fact, he was going to postpone this occasion. But, he decided to attend. Since it was a murder trail, the duration was three weeks. The jury had a remarkable woman as a member. He talked with her, later began dating. A romance evolved. Is this a coincidence? Yes, I believe so. Let me explain why.

When you receive a jury notice, they are selecting for as many as six trails. After they divide you into groups, then you attend the pre-selection for the jury. For these two people to meet, they had to have the same summons date, selected for the same group, and then selected for the jury. This makes it remarkable in my opinion, it has chance, so this is an example of coincidence.

So, to answer your question, yes I do believe in coincidences. I noticed someone answered "God is in control." I agree He is, but we are not puppets with him pulling our strings. We have free agency. We can and do make decisions that can and will determine what happens in our lives. For example, my friend could have postponed the jury summons. Why did he change his mind? I believe God wanted this to happen. But, he can not force us to take advantage of our blessings. He did not force Jesus to surrender himself to the cross. Christ had to make his own decision. We receive inspiration, and it is our decision to act.

happens so often i dont really think about it too much. i'm always bumping into people I havent seen or heard from for years. i might be miles away in a different town and likely as not i'll still run into somebody i knew years ago.
whats really weird is that if i was, say, 1 second earlier or later we would have missed one another.
weirder still, it never ends up being the least bit important .
its not like i run into a long lost love or someone wanting to give me a brilliant job, just a short dead end conversation along the lines of where are you living now,? where are you working now?, got a gf ?that kind of thing.

Yes, but I don't know the statistical information about how often they should happen.

This is an interesting story:

It takes place in Berlin, Germany many years ago. Two drivers crashed into each other at a street corner but did not wreck their cars. A couple of hours later they crashed into each other again.

there are lots of coincidences. may sound strange, but from time to time I too get the impression there are situations when you may think that some one up in heaven may have decided a certain situation to coincide, a situation arises you could not have invented but it may have become true.
