On Sunday we had to get him put to sleep and last night me and my fiancee brought the mattress into the living room to watch some movies. I was awake but I was still asleep but I seen my dog laying on my couch where he usually laid but when I opened my eyes he was gone. Was he really there in spirit or was it my subconscience wanting him to be there?

lol no we already have a TV in the bedroom and we'd have had to move that TV to accomodate the other TV from the living room and It's a 36". Then I would have to unhooked all the plugs and the cable cords so your answer is definantly NO!

No one knows the answer to this but I definitely believe in the afterlife. I would want to think it was him coming back to see his mom and dad again. When I lost my dog last year I would see her and then I would always hear her tags clanging together. I still miss her so much.
I am so sorry for your loss. Just allow yourself to grieve and understand that some people won't understand how much this affects someone if they haven't gone through it.

You may think I am dumb or stupid, but I had a hi bred and I was very attached and one day he jumped our fence I saw him do it and ran around the corner I am the third house from the corner. Someone hit him and kept going. I got him in my car and ran to the vet she is two blocks away. I had to put my beloved pet to sleep due to the internal injuries. I called an animal communicator her name is Mary J. Getten. She actually speaks to the animals she is famous for talking with the killer whales. She had helped me with a problem with my pet before and she assured me that he would always be on my right hand side and I feel him there. So to answer your question. Yes I think your pet had not passed over yet. He was checking on you and I am sure he has passed because he knows you are OK and I am sure he will be forever at your side as my pet is and when the time comes you can walk over the rainbow bridge together and into the pearly gates.

I, too, have had dreams about some of my dogs after I had to have them euthanized. Making the decission to do this is a very difficut. I always have some sort of guilt, did I do it too soon or did I wait too long.

In my dreams I would see them romping & playing as if they were still very young dogs. To me it was them telling me that they are in heaven & are doing just fine. I know I will see them again when I get there & it makes me feel a lot better knowing that they are no longer old & suffering.

When I get there, there will be a very large pack of dogs just waiting for me.

I also believe that they do visit us. There has been many a time I could have sworen that I heard them barking. Or see them out of the corner of my eyes. Or visions in my head show me that they are waiting.

I think you saw his spirit.

I have often heard of pet owners experiencing their animals in the house, in their old favorite places. I don't think what you experienced was all that unusual.

I do have a question for you, though-- wouldn't it have been easier to move the TV to the bedroom than to haul out a mattress to the living room? Just curious...

It was probably your imagination. I know it is hard to lose a pet you have had for a long time. My cat died just a few weeks ago. My other cat was very upset. He missed his friend. I hope you can find something to comfort you during this time of loss.

this question is actually one that only you can answer...it can be in your mind...that it expect your dog to be there... or it could be your dog spiritually.... when i lost my dog the next day i have thought i heard her barked.. but then again she would always bark early in the morning...like my wakeup call..it could of been my mind that it still expected her to be there or could of been her.....idk if explain well....but im very sory about your loss...i've been there 3 times and every time it hurts but then again i remember all the good times and that is what cheers me up.
Love and Best Wishes
