and like me. I am being treated for Chlamydia but it is too late for me because I have already got scarring. I am infertile and can't have children. If you catch it in time this won't happen to you. Please go get tested so that one day you can have a beautiful family. Thank you for listening.

You're right. Chlamydia is often claled the "Silent Epidemic" because people contract it without displaying any symptoms. No pain, no discharges, NOTHING. So they carry the infection for months and months while it keeps on growing inside of them.

Men have few complications from chlamydia. But women are hardest hit: as the infection persists, the bacteria inflame the cervix, then up into the uterus and fruther into the Fallopian tubes. The inflammation causes a build-up of scar tissue, clogging these structures. If a Fallopian tube gets blocked, eggs can no longer float through. If the uterus is too scarred, the fertilized egg cannot implant. This is why women are rendered infertile.

It is the responsibility of ALL sexually active people to get tested twice a year. Monogamous or not, it's important to maintain your health. When it comes ot health, you should never wait till something goes wrong. Prevention is key.

Condoms are VITAL to preventing infections like chlamydia. Even if you are in a monogamous relationship, you should use condoms (even if you are on hormonal birth control) until you are ready to attempt to conceive.
