Well girl I think you opened a can of worms here.

I think that everyone that is in the country ILLEGALLY should be deproted at once. They are criminals jsut for being here.
They don't pay taxes.
They don't contribute.
They whine.
They complaine.
They can't vote.
They suck valubale resources for AMERICANS paid for by other AMERICANS through TAX dollars.
They use ER rooms for check ups because they can go see a normal doctor, which in turn has bankrupted many ER's at hospitals making it difficult for people tha tneed Emergency treatment to receive it.

This is jsut the tip of the Iceberg.

Everybody has heard my solution, but I'll say it again. We need to pass laws and enforce them that would give anybody aiding an illegal alien prison time. I think 5 years mandatory for each illegal aided. Aid is defined as employment, rent, school, and hospitals among other things. So If a CEO of a corporation has had 100 illegals working for him he goes to prison for a mandatory 500 years with no early release possible. Same goes for landlords, hospital administrators, school board presidents, bank presidents... you get the idea. Within a month of passage an illegals would have to leave the country because they would get NO services of any kind. I also suggest paying a $500 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the illegal helpers. Further I suggest we set up a toll booth on the Mexican border and charge anyone without papers $1000 and ALL their possessions in order to be allowed to LEAVE the country.

That is what America is, and you can't change our basic nature. We are an idea, an abstraction, and it doesn't matter who is actually here, if they are here for the idea we represent.
Actually, it's harder emotionally on the new Immigrants because they aren't FORCED to leave their old countries and old language behind. With new transportation and communication, they can literally stay in 2 worlds at the same time. But America is so unique and wonderful and is 1,000 years ahead of other countries and civilizations, that how can we blame other people for getting here?

Hello,

Accept it. There is no political will to change it and clamp down and many people howling the loudest use illegals to manicure their gardens to filling in for sick workers at their companies. Also someone like me in Canada has to apply and wait to work in the US yet a rock star or soccer player jump the ques and get in with the blink of an eye.

The arttitude is not racist. Last year I visited with the Mexican Consul from Calgary wherer two blue eyed blond Canadian girls entered the office and said they wanted to learn Spanish by working in Mexican resorts. The Consul told them well, you cannot apply to work and work while in Mexico. You must first get a letter from a hotel chain asking you to come and work there. The hotel sends a copy to the Mexican government who will ask in turn, why the hell can't a Mexican do the job? "Is it not the same everywhere?", he said. Similarily my visa to Colombia years back said welcome to Colombia but under no circumstances can I apply for work or permanent residence there while visiting the country as a tourist.

If the government was at all serious in curbing immigration they would have to:

1) Fine any big company using illegals 10,000 dollars per worker and imprison the whole board of directors 2 - 5 years in prison.

2) Any private family using illegals for yard work to nannies, fine them 1000.00 per person and up to 6 months in jail.

3) Clamp down like a ton of bricks on Money Mart and Western Union, forbidding any financial transactions for those without citizenship ID or social security numbers just like the regular banks. These companies are the main mechanism for people getting their illegaly earned money out of the states.

4) Set up a whistle blowing system like Crime Stoppers where one can get a 500 - 2500 dollar reward for phoning in and ratting out illegals.

Of course, what I have shown will never be implemented in a million years in reality so I suggest it is better to leave things be and just carry on.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

In all honesty there is only one solution. A hardcore crackdown across the entire country. Massive raids by immigration and customs across every state. Deport them all and build a fence across the entire southern border.

Its estimated that it would cost some $260 billion to deport all 20 million illegals in the country. I say lets get started and I am more than willing to pay higher taxes to see it happen.

If they want in the US so bad then they can do it legally!

We don't have an immigration problem. Hardworking people apply for visas to live and work here, apply for their green cards, study hard and become citizens. They add to the flavor of where we live and add an extra element of diversity to our culture.

I live in a diverse neighborhood w/ neighbors from Czech., Greece, Canada, the Phillipines and Germany. It's fun to hear about their family and cultural traditions... and the food is excellent!

We do however, have an illegal immigration problem.

Here's what happened in 1954
Operation ******* was a 1954 project of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) to remove about 1.2 million illegal immigrants from the southwestern United States, with a focus on Mexican nationals. In addition to the deportations, the term wetbacks became a slur referring to Mexicans in general
Operation
The operation began in California and Arizona and coordinated 1,075 Border Patrol agents along with state and local police agencies to mount an aggressive crackdown, going as far as police sweeps of Mexican-American neighborhoods and random stops and ID checks of "Mexican-looking" people in a region with many Native Americans and native Hispanics.[2] In some cases, illegal immigrants were deported along with their American-born children, who were by law U.S. citizens. The agents used a wide brush in their criteria for interrogating potential aliens. They adopted the practice of stopping "Mexican-looking" citizens on the street and asking for identification. 750 agents targeted agricultural areas with a goal of 1000 apprehensions a day. By the end of July, over 50,000 aliens were caught in the two states. Around 488,000 people fled the country for fear of being apprehended. By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and the INS estimates that 500,000-700,000 people had left Texas voluntarily. To discourage re-entry, buses and trains took many people deep within Mexico before being set free. Tens of thousands more were put aboard two hired ships, the Emancipation and the Mercurio. The ships ferried them from Port Isabel, Texas, to Veracruz, Mexico, more than 500 miles (900 kilometers) south
Result
Operation ******* deported approximately 80,000 Mexican nationals in the space of almost a year, although local INS officials claimed that an additional 500,000-700,000 had fled to Mexico before the campaign began. The INS estimates rested on the claim that most undocumented people, fearing apprehension by the government, had voluntarily repatriated themselves before and during the operation. This practice incited and angered many U.S. citizens who were of Mexican American descent. Opponents in both the United States and Mexico complained of "police-state" methods, and Operation ******* was abandoned
