What should we do to help others prepare themselves for the Second Coming?
Are there things we should do, be aware of, etc. or do you feel the Second Coming is just a bunch of whoee?
I know where I stand, I'm just wondering what you think.

It occurs to me that maybe I should say something about helping others prepare. By helping others prepare, I mean help others who want to be helped, those that are of like mind (even if they aren't of the same faith), those who have asked for help. Not be some fruitcake at the airport who won't take no for an answer.

I think the best way to prepare for the Second Coming is to do the same things that we should do all the time: have faith in Jesus Christ and follow His teachings. For those who have hope in Him, it's nothing to fear but instead something to look forward to. And the calamities and earthquakes and whatever that will precede His coming may be temporarily scary, but they won't be permanent.

I'm not sure if we should do anything to prepare for it. First of all, no one knows exactly when it is going to happen... it may not even happen in your life time. I personally am aware that it could happen at any moment, but I am not living my life any differently than I would otherwise, if that makes sense. I frankly hope that He comes before I die so I won't have to experience what death is like. And no, I absolutely do not think it is a bunch of "whoee"... it clearly says in the Bible that He will come again. Listen to Dallas Holm - Rise Again. It says it all.

ditto to rac, but I'd add a few more things.
The Second Coming is about finishing the work on this earth. As we prepare for His return, we prepare the work. Not all of it comes from within an established Church, either. Look at how the internet and computers have assisted in geneology [which is necessary to prepare the book of names to present after Christ's reign].
I know I personally have a strong desire to share my testimony with those whom I may and make sure that my children are strong in the gospel and their own testimonies. I'm anxiously awaiting the time when I can serve more actively in the missionfield [but content as a mom in the meantime]. I support others who are serving [my parents recently returned from their second mission and are preparing to go on a 3rd].
Preparing for the 2nd Coming is as personal as working out our exaltation. But I've shared my thoughts, hope you found them interesting.

This one deserves the stock answer to most religious questions. Follow the Savior, do as Christ would do. Be a good example, show forth love to your neighbor and in your caring, you invite all to come unto Christ. If you have spent your time in helping your family and friends and neighbors, in the broad definition of the term, to follow Christ, then you have done what you can to prepare yourself and your acquaintances for the second coming.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.
2 Peter 1:5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.

We should be living witness and good examples.
We shouldn't be the holier than thou type who is trying to shove Christ down people's throats... but we should be understnading that he who has an ear to hear will hear and just pray for the others.
Christ is not about confussion, so bringing confussion and chaos to make people believe in him is definitely not his will for his people!

Pretty much just live the gospel. Live a Christlike life, do the things you should be doing, cut out bad influences from your life. That's all anyone can do, but we should be doing that anyway.
