Hi Hi,
So I'm really quite horrified that I might have lice.
My head itches on top of my head and sometimes the back and every once in awhile around the ears.
But I'm scared it might just be because I'm paranoid?
Most of the white stuff in my hair flakes out really easily, but there are a few things that are attached to strands of hair themself. they dont come off when I flick but they slide up and down the hair really easily without fingers.
I had my boyfriend check my hair and he said he saw nothing, and I checked his hair thoroughly and he definitely just had dandruff. If I had live he would have it too right, especially since we sleep in the same bed with eachother every night?
Also, I purchased the lice and nit removal combs and combed through my hair pretty thoroughly. I found no actual bugs, but there was white stuff on both combs, but not sure if what was on them was nits or jus tmore dandruff.

Help!

If you had lice your head would itch something fierce. Get Nizoral shampoo and use it a few times a week. Use another dandruff shampoo between shampoos such as Garnier Fruitis. You don't want to use Nizoral every day. And that should clear it up. Dandruff can't be cured; it has to be managed. Good luck. 2D

if the white stuff is small like dandruff, but a little longer than usual, than it is probably a hair cast. it will probably not be lice if the stuff is extremely white, and lice eggs usually are glued to the shaft at an angle and are a teardrop shape. if your scalp is flaking than it is probably dandruff.scratch your head not too hard but not too soft and if stuff comes off then it is probably dandruff.

I went though the same problem when my daughter got lice at school. I was always scratching my head because I thought I felt something and all I was doing was creating dandruff!

First before you get in the shower pour vinegar on your head and let it sit for a couple minutes you even might want to rub it into the scalp then wash with a dandruff shampoo. This will get rid of the dandruff

Lice is very hard to see its almost see-thru but if you still see ANY white specks in your hair go to the store and get regular Mayo use it at room temp and apply to your hair then cover with a plastic bag for about 30 min then if you like you can comb thou with your lice comb.Mayo will always get rid of lice! And to keep them away you can use a shampoo with rosemary scent which can be found at most health stores.
Good luck and don't scratch : )

Don't panic because just the though of lice makes me itch. Imagine trying to figure it out for your self. You are taking the right steps. maybe you just have a dry scalp. Try a hot oil treatment on each other with a very soft an slow relaxing scalp massage.
enjoy

It sounds to me like you just have a case of dry scalp and paranoia. Dandruff causes itchy scalp, so I doubt its lice, just an over dry scalp. Get a good anti-dandruff shampoo like head and shoulders, and it would be best if you get one thats for dry scalp care. If your home has very dry air that can be the cause of both you and your boyfriends dry scalps. Try getting a humidifier for your home, this should help your skin to be less dry and flaky on your scalp. Good luck!

It could be psoriasis. It's hereditary, a lot like dry scalp, itchy...

The classic symptoms of psoriasis are raised, red patches of skin topped with loose, silvery scales.

I have it on my head. I reccommend T-Gel by Neutrogena. It works wonders.

it may not be either. It could be psoriasus. It is a form of dry skin on your scalp that mimics dandruff. i know because I have it. I use head and shoulders classic clean everyday. If it is a sever cases then you need to go to a dermitologist and ask for ionol t plus shampoo. It is the poo I tell ya. If you were to have lice you would know. That much itching you would have bugs falling out of your hair and off your brush when you brush your hair. The best ways to get rid of lice are 1. dye your hair with the best at home hair dye you can afford or 2. wash hair with arecipe of tomatoe paste, lemon juice and real mayo. Then comb your hair with a small tooth comb and veggie oil. Wash out with Suave(3parts) and Alcohol(1part). then you get another helping of real mayo and styling gel mix on your scalp and cover your head and hair with a shower cap overnight. In the morning wash hair normally and comb with a small toothed comb. Live lice will be gone but you still need to get rid of the eggs. Both of these methods are used to smootherthe live lice and the eggs. Use method 2 for major severe cases. Nits look like water drops on each strand of hair. You can look up lice online and you will get pics of what to look for. I used to work in a Head Start and we had several sever cases of head lice. They say lice can't jump, it is very debatable.
