Is there are limit on the amount of time that can pass before a victim reports the perpetrator to the police? Thanks.

If it is physical, you would have a problem if you did not report it the same day. You need to prove it happened. Delaying the reporting would/could make it look like you were holding the event over the perpetrators head to blackmail them with.

Depends on the state law. If it is simple assault and a misdemeanor, a year is usually the norm. If it is something more serious and in the felony range, it can be several years.

However, with something like assault, it is better to report it sooner rather then later. If there are no marks on your or the suspect, it is very hard to get a conviction.

I think you should report it as soon as possible,if you wait to long the evidence kind of disappears,if you do it when it happens,the police would have an idea what is happening,if something bad was to happen,they could respond to it faster.
