A dog will greet you at the door, and make you feel welcome. That's especially nice after a long day at work, when things didn't go right. Regardless of how much nonsense went on at work, getting home to find this type of welcome seems to make up for the unpleasant things that happened earlier in the day. Dogs are very loyal and caring and they don't ask for much in return -- just to be treated with care and love, and to be taken for walks and to have some fun fetching a ball. They're special -- no doubt about that! My friend, Louis (who, sadly, died in July, just a few weeks short of his 4th birthday) was the best friend I've ever had. He certainly went beyond the extra mile in being there for me, and I miss him so much. So, treasure the time you have with your friend.

I've had my face licked off by a certain min pin when I've cried. . . and then the Kleenexes stolen off the table and paraded around the room like some great prize. The first was cute (she's very good about trying to keep my face and ears clean since my own tongue doesn't reach there), and the second was at least a silly distraction.
In normal life. . . she and I have this little arrangement on the couch that she sits up by my waist, I put my arm around her, and then she lays down with her head on my arm and curled up within the space between me and the arm. It's quite precious, really. :) It's almost as funny as her idea of tug-of-war in which the contested object will repeatedly get shoved back in my face if she manages to get it away from me until I grab the other end again. Winning the game is entirely irrelevant 95% of the time -- the idea is to keep her mommy playing regardless of whether mommy really wants to keep playing.

I think I have been blessed with the greatest dog in the world. There was a period of time when I had my brother's dog and he knew how to open the storm door. I had a roommate who forgot to lock the storm door and I came home from work one night to find I hadn't been knocked down by the two dogs... Apparently my brother's dog had gotten out and took off, but my dog was sitting on the back porch waiting for me to come home and let her in. She sleeps with me wherever I am, seems to know exactly what I'm saying and like others have said she knows when I'm upset and does what she can to comfort me!! She really is the best, sweetest dog I've ever met. She's a Pit Bull too by the way. It's all in how you raise them!!!

My dog follows me around everywhere. She won't let me out of her sight and always wants to play out in the backyard. I have a golden retriever, a year and 5 months old.
More importantly though is that she likes me more than my parents haha....which makes sense lol.
I could come home from work stressed out, dealing with criminals at the place I work at (in a sense), and she will be very glad to see me back.
So what I've mentioned is probably the reason why my dog is my best friend.
If you have any questions, just message me!

Animals have the ability to love us unconditionally. A dog doesn't care if you're short, tall, fat, skinny, rich, poor....I could go on forever. My dog's always there for me whether I'm upset and crying, angry, happy, or just looking for amusement. He's more than willing to snuggle up with me if I'm upset or sick. He's acts like he hasn't seen me in a million years when I come home from college every break and won't leave my side. He parades around the house and acts silly and loves a good wrestling match when I'm feeling happy and playful. Animals aim to please and just love to be loved. If you show a dog love and kindness, you'll get it back 10 fold.

Dogs read your emotions and they love you. This tells me you are this dogs pack leader and that's very good.
As to why dogs are "Man's best friend". I don't know the answer to that, but I will say one thing:
It's said the Diamonds are a girls best friend, while Dog is mans best friend.
I firmly believe that men got the better deal. I'll take a good dog over a diamond all day long.
No diamond will grive me the total excitement and pleasure the way my dogs do.

"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you, that is the principal difference between a dog and a man."
-Mark Twain
That's why!
No really....I think it's because they depend on us for so much and we depend on them for so much. They love us unconditionally and no matter how angry we get with some of their actions they never hold a grudge against us for our anger.
All I know is I led a very boring and unfulfilled life before I got my girl!

That is the bond between humans and dogs - and the reason it is such a horrible betrayal when we don't take care of them or discard them.
Sounds as if you and your dog have a great bonding relationship, I'm glad you appreciate your dog and how much she cares about you.
