Is it me or the people of today are more unpolite than ever?

Well, where I live most people are not awake in the morning to say good morning. I live in a college community, all the housing around my apartment is filled with college kids. We either sleep late, so its good afternoon, or we are sleep walking and saying good morning is pointless because the person probably wont say good morning back, for whatever reason.

We do here all the time and everytime i go to the store early early in the morning i always get a smile with a good morning from strangers.
But i can go to Target and everyone there looks like they've been bull whipped all night and refused a life lol, they look so damn misserbale down there.

Funny you ask that, I do offer a good morning as a salutation, especially when making phone calls to places of business. 8 times out of 10 though, after I give the greeting, there seems to be a uncomfortable pause, I wait for them to greet back and I don't get it. Weird?!?

Society as a whole is just changing to a much more selfish and less polite and respectful society. At least here in America. It's sad.

Come on dutchess - who really cares?
Why just do things out of routine when it has no real meaning. By all means when u meet a friend and have time for a little chat - u say it.
But just to say Good morning how are u today - when really you don't really care what they say seems pointless to me.

Not everyone is a morning person. I am big on manners but I don't even want to talk for the first hour that I've been up. Hey I like my sleep!

I do, everyday. I walk my children to school, as do many people in the area. I do not know too many of them, but everyone always says good morning! or how are you? in passing.

I say goodmorning everyday at work, but people don't always respond. Maybe some people just aren't morning people, they just want to be left alone until they fully wake-up!

I get greeted by strangers in the street, bus, etc.
At work, we always say something as we cross in the halls.
Sometimes, we even stop for a very quick chat.
