More questions heh. I know when you join the military you can fill out a dream sheet during boot camp for all the bases you want to request (specifically I will more than likely go Air Force. But is there any way to have your first duty station be put in your contract after taking the asvabs? After doing a lot of research I would really like to be stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska, though there are a few others I am looking in to (lakenheath, Hickam). Though going security forces im sure I will end up in the middle east sooner or later. I enjoy the outdoor activities and scenery though and i've never been to Alaska so it is looking good heh. Thanks. I know a guarantee doesn't mean much in the military, but i'd rather have it in writing than not at all.

Basically, you will go where your particular branch of service needs somone of your occupational specialty.

Now, while you're training for your job, your whole class will be given duty station assignments. It's very possible to swap duty stations with your peers if your instructors allow you to. it's a little more leg work for them, but it is not diffucult.

But to ANSWER your question..... NO.

Duty station preferences are not given to the new guys. Once it's time to re-enlist, you should be given the luxury to pick your duty station as an "incentive".

1. You cannot get a duty station in an enlistment contract 2. A bonus will depend on the mos you are enlisting for, there is either a bonus or there isn't, nothing you can do effects that at all. Do not expect a enlistment bonus. 3. You can get your mos in the enlistment contract. 4. You can try and get airborne school in the contract But only if there is a airborne school slot open right after you are scheduled to finish AIT No airborne school slot, then your not going airborne, its as simple as that 5. Although you may be able to wait to ship out and wait for an airborne school slot But that could push your ship date from 4 months down the road , out to 8 months or longer.

No... especially not in the Air Force. I do know that usually, in your tech school/A school/MOS school... that if you are in the top percentage of your graduating class that they will give you the orders you requested, but we're a country at war, so the needs of the military always come first.

As a side note, I went to high school right outside of Elmendorf. I love it up there, so I hope you do get to see it!

only when you reenlist or coming off a hardship tour.....you could volunteer to do 12 months in south korea and then they will let you go wherever you want as long as there is an open spot for you. you have to realize the bases you are looking at are high demand (mostly because they are considered overseas so everyone wants the COLA) now if you wanted to go somewehre that noone wants (like Minot north dakota....yuck) then you would probably get it , the only thing you can do is put them on your dream sheet and hope for the best.

In the Army you can. Im sure its the same in the Air Force. As long as you qualify for the job, it can be guarenteed. If you fail qualifications, then they can do whatever. This usually happens because of security clearences or a specific requirement for job. (EOD for example has a lot of specific requirements).

Nope... that's one of those things you "earn". They save that as a reenlistment incentive!
