Other than meds (and there are some good ones) there are some lifestyle changes that can help ease the symptoms.
Daily exercise
Cut out stimulants like caffeine and nicotine
Breathing techniques- I breathe in for a count of 10, hold for a count of 10, and exhale for a count of ten
Meditation- when you start to feel overwhelmed, remember a place in which you were very calm, maybe a favorite childhood memory.
When things get really bad and I can't stop my mind from going in circles, I completely change what I am doing- I'll start some physical activity that I have to focus my mind and energy on.
good luck.

it depends on how severe the anxiety is. If it is not severe studies show that exercises reduces anxiety. If severe you should talk to a mental health counselor, therapy may work, if not there are medications to control sever anxiety. If severe and you need meds, a psychiatrist is your best bet, they specialize in this where your family doctor does not.

I think you answered your own question..You'd think with all the self-help out there..we would all be anxiety free! Just learn to cope..to deal..to accept..Take it from a mother who lost a 21yr old .daughter 7 years ago..in a car accident. The pain is still very raw...you have no choice..you deal with it on your own terms...no one can help..no one..but you.

I know it sounds silly but make an appointment with yourself to worry about what ever the anxiety is. Is it something you can do anything about or is the solution out of your control. Most of our fears are never realized and in reality are not as bad as we think they are.Anyway postponing the decision assuming it is not immediate danger,is one way to cope.when your appointed time arrives things probably are different.

Talk to someone about what is making you anxious. Write it down if no one is around. If it is very bad seek medical/mental health help. Breathe deeply and blow out slowly, listen to clam music, go for a walk. I do find keeping a journal helps me deal with under lying stress. Good Luck.

I drink green tea, think positively, and just try to relax. One step at a time, don't allow yourself to get overwhelmed.
Hope this helps!
