You have to count all of your calories. Fats are not the only one that can make a person fat. Excessive carbohydrates can be stored in our body as fats as well. Whatever your diet plan is, carbs should be minimal, but don't eliminate them. Also, make sure you include fiber in your diet. Great sources of fibers are fruits, veggies, whole grain cereals. It gives you a "full" sensation after you eat and it aids fat burning too.

Any calories coming in are going to affect your weight. And you will only lose weight if the amount of calories coming in is less than the amount of calories being burned, whether you control your diet or increase your exercise level, or both.

The reason you want to control your fat is that fat has more calories, and it can have worse effects on your body. It can clog arteries, and it is burned off more slowly than carbohydrates--it is the body's reserve for when you don't have enough available carbohydrates to burn.

I'd just count the calories you are consuming and deduct the calories you are burning from that.
Fat isn't always a bad thing. You're body does need fat to be healthy.

It's calories in general. People think of the fat calories b/c they add up fast. 1g of carbs, or protein only has 4 calories, while 1g of fat as 9!!! So you have to eat less food and get the same # of calories.
