Solution: Don't share. Honestly the fact that you can get killer viruses should be enough for you to get rid of limewire. Try a torret. If you're still afraid they're going to come to your house and arrest you, you could try a system restore which would eliminate evidence. They would still have the information on what you've done through your internet service provider though.

Technically it is still possible if someone was monitoring the downloads. The IP address would have been recorded. They would have to get a subpoena to get your ISP to turn you over to them, if they did want to further pursue it. This is also assuming that someone was monitoring a download that you made, which would be possibly but very improbable. Normally they go after people that are sharing and not people that are downloading. In any case it's still fairly rare for a single person to get caught. 24 songs is pretty bad, but they typically try to go after people to make an example of and not your average joe. It's really expensive to pursue an infringement case, so they try to go after the big fish.

Yes you can still be caught. Lime wire may be subpoenaed for all their records and your info will be on it.
My daughters get so ticked at me every time I show them news articles of people getting caught and fined for illegal downloads.
The case you mentioned seems to be more on the fact that she shared and offered the music files on the Internet.
I'm not sure if she was charging for them or just sharing, I think that's why they went after her. Over 1700 songs is a lot.

yes, your computer and other identifying information is still on the server. I saw this morning where a person was fined more than 9,000 dollars per song for illegally downloaded music files. Good luck

I don't know how often people get caught, but yes, you can be. Your IP address represents you and you only. When you download or upload something to other people your IP address is sent to all the people you are connected to. Basically, yes, they can track your IP address and find you.

If downloading is an offence, yes, you can still be prosecuted. Such punishments are usually given as exemplary punishments.
Hope for the best.

in case you progression the data when you acquire them you're reducing the threat of having busted for "sharing" data, yet there continues to be data which you downloaded the data out of your ISP or information superhighway service.
