I've been up since 5 o clock cleaning because my daughter is having a birthday party tomorrow & I want everything to look really nice and I've gotta do some baking and cooking this afternoon to get ready for the party.

My husband left for work at 6 and at 6:30 my doorbell rang. It was my neighbor. She comes over about every other day and usually stays for half an hour or an hour and talks about her son (who I don't even know). I try to be polite and just listen because she's very lonely.

Well, she said she came over because she saw my light was on so she knew I was up- who goes visiting at 6:30 int he morning? I hinted to her that I was busy cleaning house for the birthday party because I wanted to get stuff done before the baby woke up. She didn't get the hint.

It is now 9 a.m. and I JUST got rid of her..

Does everyone have a neighbor like this?

I did, but when he would come over, like you, it was not at the best time. What I did was ask for his help whenever this happened. He visited less often after the fence painting chore I requested his help with.

Not at the minute but I have in the past. Just be straight out blunt with her. Tell her this is not a good time to visit and perhaps she could come back and help you clean up after the party. Then shut the door. If she is already in the house go to the door and hold it open for her.

Yes! I have one also! Mine comes over with her 3 kids that tear up all! And she will come ask to use my phone, Borrow movies, one she kept for 3 months and when she brought it back she said I'm sorry I kept forgetting it? Well couldn't you have just walked your butt right back home and got it? BTW your house is like 100 feet away!? Man I'm sorry you have a neighbor like that and you don't want to be rude. And its not like you can ignore the door cause she may wake the baby up when she gets impatient from you not answering the door and KNOWS YOUR HOME lol Best f luck with the party girly.

I've never had that problem, but there are two people in the neighborhood who never do anything to keep their yards looking like humans live there. I offered to help the single mom and was turned down. Maybe I was the annoying neighbor.

I did when I was younger, but learned from my experiences. I now get to know my neighbors just well enough that I can depend on them, and they on me, in an emergency or to keep an eye on things. No socializing. It has always lead to annoyances like you experienced this morning.
