The Dome of the Rock is the third holiest site in Islam, after Mecca and Medina. The dome covers a large outcrop of rock called al-Sakhra, or the Foundation Stone. Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammed ascended to heaven from this spot to receive instructions from God. There is a large imprint on the rock which Muslims say is the footprint of the angel Gabriel, who took Muhammed to heaven.

The Rock is not hanging in the air and invisible...lol. It's just a rock, supposedly the spot from which Mohammed ascended to heaven. The location is also sacred to Christians and Jews as the site of the Temple of Jerusalem.

The Dome of the Rock is of no importance. It just happens to be built on the site of the Holy Temple of Solomon. The time will come when God will re-establish His Holy Temple once again. The Jews worship and pray at the last remaining wall of the Holy Temple of Solomon. It is known as the wailing wall.

It is a relic of the Muslim faith, not of Jewish or Christian. It should be noted that no chronicler of religious sites, and there were several, ever mentioned it until after Muhammad wrote about it. The same is true of Mecca, which was founded in the 3rd century CE.

no, it is a rock that had what is supposedly Muhammad's footprint when he allegedly flew to Jerusalem on the back of an angel.
Jews are not allowed up there. Christians might be able to go up there though but not sure.

Other than being important to the Muslims, it has no importance. It is just another building.
