About to make a move to a new state for a new job. The wife will be staying home for a few years to take care of the kids... can I insure her car as "part-time" since she won't be working anymore?

I assume I could just ask our insurance carrier but c'mon, isn't Yahoo! Answers more fun?

as far as i know the only thing that can be insured semi part time is a motor home as insurance company's figure you only use it about 6 months a year and it sits idle for the other 6 months

You can insure her as a "low mileage" driver. My insurance company sends a card every year asking how many miles each of us drives, and the vehicle milage at the time.

You tell the insurer that it will be used for non-work/pleasure driving. She will still be driving it at least a couple of days a week right?
