That would be a fairly accurate statement for the complete picture. The Crusaders did win for quite some time but were beaten back ultimately.

The cursaders did have one major victory. They won the lesser known (but very real) crusade against the Cathars in France.

There were many crusades. It's pretty much an even split, I think. Guess the Christians should have tried harder. Might have saved us all a lot of trouble recently.
