Now they have ended (they say) 'catch and release' so they would hold them until they can be sent back to their own country.
They can also be jailed, but the first time they don't always do that.

If you are a Mexican citizen you are allowed in the border zone, just not allowed to cross without your border crosser card. Americans at the border if leaving the border zone, need to get a visa and register their car.

They get sent right back to Mexico.

They are taken and processed and if not wanted are returned to country of origin>
