We have both here in S FL. I am learning Spanish, because I'm thinking of moving south. I don't want to be cold anymore, or it would be French.

I prefer Spanish as it´s one of the most spoken languages in the world (and Spanish is just right for me, can´t explain why, I guess everyone has one language you like more than any other). I speak French too and in my opinion the more languages you know the more you will understand about our world!

I'm an EMT in an area with an ever-increasing Hispanic population, so it would be a big help if I spoke Spanish (an even bigger help if people who move to this country would learn our language, but I won't go there right now!). However, the language I'm the most interested in is sign language. Most people in my area understand at least a little big of Spanish (or 'Spanglish', as we call it), but very few people can sign. I can finger-spell, but that can be difficult to do when you've got a lot of questions to ask, so I'd like to learn signing fluently.

Spanish. It's a lot less difficult than French. It's in particular less difficult to pronounce Spanish phrases. And I recognise within the US plenty of persons talk Spanish, so it is priceless to understand the language. French, then again, no longer such a lot.

Learn both. I studied several languages including French and Spanish. The Spanish has always been more useful and was easier to learn. My wife and I are both studying Mandarin Chinese at the moment.

I'd start with Spanish. More people speak it. Although it's similar to French (they're both romance languages), it's more similar to Italian which would mean that many more people you can communicate with. After you've learned it, you can more easily learn French later.

French, from what I've heard, is harder to learn than spanish. I'm in my 4th year of spanish and i believe that it would be more helpful to you if you learn spanish

I'd prefer Spanish. Both languages are beautiful, but Spanish seems easier to me.
