Could if e that you are from India - taking bribes and corruption is not as widespread in other countries. I don't think people in the UK respect corrupt people at all.

I am a social worker...everyone gets more respect than me...but you know what I sleep good every night and my part of the world in not full of corruption and and there are no bribes being offered or taken here....In my state we voted a dead man into office rather than accept John Ashcroft as our governor...in my state we do not want to be taken care of by big government or by big corporation...heck we dont much care for Wal-Mart being here...so when we believe that we should take care of our own needs and help those in our community who need help then the only thing we respect is ourselves...and isn't that what government is for, to help to better the interests of its people...not its politicians

In lot's of countries bribery and corruption are a way of life. If the little people stopped working that way, after a while they would do something about the the leaders doing it. But while you keep doing it yourselves it's going to be admired. Just get everyone to stop taking bribes. Is that possible in your country?

Dis honesty, corruption etc gives immediate seemingly good results.Remember --Khuda ke ghar der hai, unther nahi. With the lord there can be (seemingly) delay but ther is no darkness.
Again respect from whom? U also have to look at the type of people who give and do not give respect.

When we bribe any officer, more than the officer we fear too much because it is very unusual for us to bribe them. For them it is regular affair and that is why he is dare to face our face(face to face) Consciously when you are giving money next time you don't shiver and be bold, mostly you will also get your strength when you bribe the officers.
