I wouldn't call oblivion peace. But I guess some people would.

I want to think so.. Its best to think positively when talking about the after life.. why would one want to believe choas or nothing left when someone dies.. Religion plays a big role for peace in the afterlife.. if you believe strongly about something and know that you are going to a better place, when you die, your mind and soul will take you there... There is an afterlife, there are second chances, there is cost for all your sins, maybe its not hell, but it has to be something...lessons are to be learned in a lifetime, if those lessons were not learned you move on to another life until your soul has learned all there is to know...

For you to appreciate peace means you would have to have consciousness (oh and that nice Mr Intelligence too), but all evidence points to the lights, systems and functions going out on the point of death - meaning - not peace but non-existence.

Hi....

Yes, but there is 'no' form of consciousness, no carrying on thoughts and feelings or any form of 'living'!

There is no such thing as 'life after death', although every atom of yourself being re-used or put back into the mix, is life after death, or at least forms more life after death!

Peace, as in 'nothingness', you do not exist anymore and have no knowledge of your existence anymore!!!

Well honestly if you consider that the creator is all knowing and knowledge , like the creator, is infinite then I would have to say I disagree. That would defeat the purpose of living which is to gain knowledge & wisdom.

The above being said, I think we are all little pieces of the creator (thus, the being made in his likeness & image) and we gain knowledge & wisdom by being here, when we die we just reincarnate until we have gained all the knowledge & wisdom WE individually needed. You cannot gain all of this knowledge in one lifetime, it's too much, so we just keep coming back until we get it all. When we have done this THEN we return to the creator & become another piece of the creator thus experiencing euphoria.

God's goal in life is not to make us happy. It's not to protect us
from every pain, every discomfort, or every inconvenience. And
God is not interested in our vote on the matter. It'is not a
democracy. His commitment to us is very straightforward and
very simple: to draw us to Himself and make us like Jesus.
If our happiness or comfort or personal freedom and affluence
get in the way, then they have got to go. That leads to an very
unavoidable conclusion. When times of pain strike, often times
the very pain and hardship that we are feeling can't be prayed
away specifically because it is the hand of God that has placed
them in our lives, to get our attention to show us that we are
not right with Him.
