Fairly accurate.
The difference is that the writers of the bible might have actually BELIEVED what they were writing; whereas scientology was a scam manufactured by a hack science fiction novelist...

I agree with the first answerer here - they are equally untrue but they are different. Scientology is sheer lunacy. The bible is a combination of cruelty, savagery, wisdom, beauty and much else besides. It should be seen as a product of the times and cultures in which its various parts were written and is a valubale guide to how people thought and lived.
What is ludicrous is that people take it as being literally true and the God inspired Word etc etc

The New Testament... and the cult which grew up around it... is formulaic. The success which the fradulent christ-cult enjoyed has been duplicated... along with its mental manipulation techniques for bringing the gullible and ignorant into the fold. Think of the admonitions that are repeated several times in the epistles... which basically tell the faithful not to waste their evangelistic efforts on 'those who are wise in the ways of the world'... instead, focus on fools. In other words, beware of people who are smart enough to penetrate the scam... focus your efforts on those who are as dumb or dumber than yourself... otherwise, you're gonna get laughed at... or worse, tarred and feathered and run out of town.
As they say... imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Islam, Mormonism, Scientology are just a few of the more successful examples.

You want to be sure to include Jews in here, too. The New Testament is a tiny part of the Bible. Almost all of it is the Jewish Bible or Tanakh. You may as well bash everybody who reads the thing, not just some.

Or you might say that both are a large set of good guidelines and helpguides appropriate to their times which had to cap it with religion in order to get it into play.
Of course nowadays that is no longer the rule. You can put out a life-changing system or alternate medicine etc etc without having to claim that you are medical or religion.

Well... scientology was made by one guy (who had a few screws loose if you ask me)
Christianity evolved heavily, and involved politics and a multitude of people...
At the end of the day, yes, they are pretty much the same thing. Give scientology a few hundred years, maybe it will evolve and become powerful too.

I agree that the only difference between the basis for Christianity and the basis for Scientology is the length of time they have been in existence.

Yes, I would say that it's fairly accurate, but Scientology had the Bible beaten, hands down, for ludicrousness.

I consistently theory the Vatican grew to become right into a style of mafia... as did many Christians too. Protestantism grew to become into usual instead to many "unholy" Catholic practices. The sale of indulgences: atonement on your sins by means of value, grew to become into hated maximum and grew to become into no longer something extra suitable than a protection racket. i grew to become into stunned to benefit that Gaudí's masterpiece, the Sagrada Família, in Barcelona, as quickly as I visited 2 years in the past, grew to become into nevertheless being equipped on the sale of indulgences - displayed on buckets and posters around the positioning. So, i do no longer think of your assessment does fail.
