I am glad that there are non-believers on this site. I believe that they are searching. Although they will LOUDLY protest this notion. I do not feel that they are truly "non-believers" or why would they have such an interest in what we are saying?

You are right in a way.Atheists are on an eternal search and discovery. As things keep evolving, changing ,new inventions replace the old ones and change being the only constant in this world, they must re evaluate their ideas and keep testing such things with rationality. They can't have the comfort of taking on and sticking with a belief which hasn't seen the light of new knowledge for centuries. That's the luxury reserved for the believers.

Back in the “day” when I was a practicing Wiccan I would frequent the Christian chat rooms on AOL. I had done the typical teenager rebellion against the religion of my parents and while I genuinely enjoyed the mysticism and perceived welcomeness of Wicca, I was seeking something in Christianity that would bring me back.

I remember in the Wicca chat rooms whenever a Christian came in many of the Pagan participants would be kind and welcoming and there would be genuine discussion but, we had some individuals who were definitely welcome in our clique however, they were frequently very hostile to the Christians even when they had not invited the hostility.

I think the same goes for some atheists. While I was never an atheist, I believe that the same desire for something to believe in is there. There is something in us that tells us that God exists. Some people just deny it for whatever reasons.

Some say that logic proves God does not exists but, that fly’s in the face of astrophysicists who say the more they learn about the universe, the more convinced they are that there is a creator.

Francis Collins the head of the Human Genome Project is an evangelical Christian

Then:
“[He] became an atheist because as a graduate student studying quantum physics, life seemed to be reducible to second-order differential equations. Mathematics, chemistry and physics had it all.”

Now:
"The God of the Bible is also the God of the genome," he writes. "He can be worshiped in the cathedral or in the laboratory."

God bless!!!

I have been alive a long time - half a century. I've done all the seeking I need to do and I know who I am. In that time I have seen many, many people hurt by religion and by ignorant superstition. The reason that I am interested in what religious believers say is so that I can challenge the worst of it and hopefully help people to think things through so they themselves don't get hurt by religion or hurt others with it.

I have an interest in all religions. It's a hobby of mine. Some people read Harry Potter, some people play tennis. I like religion. I have a fascination for why people devote so much time, money and lives on something that serves no purpose other than to make money, and to justify things that would be unjustifiable without the name of a religion being linked to it.

I'm curious...personally, whenever someone claims to have "all the answers"....

I find it fun to ask them questions that they can not possibly have answers to, and watch them scramble to cover the tracks of their ignorance...

Also i find it entertaining to see what a few "doomed" individuals come up with every day such as C&C and a few others...

Also there are alot of good, educated people here to discuss ideas, concepts, and philosophy with...(note linz below, one example of who I'm talking about here)

Believing in a god is not a prerequisite for an interest in theology. I entirely disagree with your theory that we are "searching". Instead, I want to show people that creationism is completely wrong to teach in our school systems.

It's because Religious debate is fascinating, and it's interesting how forceful some people express their opinions.

Personally, I'm not here to convert anyone.
