While you might be to young, back in 1984, I had a tubal ligation, it was the best thing I could have done after trying the methods available back then, condoms, the diaphragm, the IUD (which almost killed me), the pill (which also almost killed me). After three children and a lot of convincing and pleading to my doctor, he agreed to do it and I haven't looked back since. While it might not be what you are looking for now, in the future, after you have been fruitful and multiplied, don't dismiss the good old fashion tube tying. God Bless.

I have used oral contraceptives for YEARS and they have been 100% eeffective. When I brush my teeth before bedtime, I take my pill.
I have friends that were on the DEPO shot. I also am familiar w/ the Nuva-ring and the IUD.
All of your birth control methods have very high success rates of 99%. You just have to follow the instuctions exactly as they are given.
As for your different choices, pick the one that sounds easiest to you. Plus, you can always change methods if you do not like your first choice.

My tubes are tied now, but I used the pill, the patch, and the shot previously at different times. I got pregnant on the patch. The shot made me gain 20 lbs in 3 months. The pill was hard for me to remember.
I tried nuva ring for about six months before my tubal ligation with no problems. If you aren't ready for surgery, then go for the nuva ring. It was the best one for me.

The NuvaRing has been the best for me for the past two years. I used pills for six but the there's no beating the fact that the ring only needs your attention two times a month: one in, one out! that's it!

I chart so that I am aware of where I am in my cycle (read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler) and we use condoms during my fertile times. Have been charting for over 60 cycles now and consider it very successful!

I use the orthaevra patch, the only downfall I have is that it irritates your skin and doesn't come in different skin tones so if you have dark skin its going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Condoms. Hormone therapies make me ill, I cant take them.
But we're married and love our children, so using a condom and risking it failing is fine by us.
