I am not sure I agree with your statistic. For the Democrats in Congress, it appears to me that they all want the US to lose, to quit, to cut and run.
They are trying to create failure so they can use it as a tool to get re-elected.

The only reason I'm jumping in this is to correct some mis information here about the war in Iraq. I'll keep it brief. First the war is not about oil, Iraqs oil feild's are located in the Southern Shia area's and Kurdish north. To date no US troops aer guarding any oil feilds or refineries in Iraq. Second some mentioned that Osama is hiding in Afghanistan and so we should focus on getting him. I supose he thinks Iraq has nothing to do with the war on terror. This shows the ignorance that Westerners in general and Americans in particular have about the Middle East. Truth is having a friendly or nuetral Iraq is key to the waider Global war on terror (GWoT). The simplest reason is that Baghdad as a former Caliphate capital is considered second to mecca and medina. Jerusalem comes in at distant 3rd. Osma's plan is to reestablish the Islamic Caliphate, that would be hard to do if Iraq is a democracy. Also friendly governments in Iraq and Afganistan will squeeze strategically Iran in the middle. Oh and by the way killing Bin Laden will do nothing to stop Al Qaeda as it is a decentralized multicellular organization. Assuming Bin Laden is even in Afganistan. Many belive him to be in Pakistan, and his family is rumored to be in Iran. I have many more reasons but this forum is unpractical for this. Oh and by the way I'm a carrer soldier with 2 tours in Iraq and also a Desert Storm Vet. So I'm not one who says go fight while I sit behind.

I am against the war, I am not against the American fighting man and women. We are fighting the wrong war, Osama Bin Ladin is in Afghanistan, That's the war we should be fighting. America the greatest military power in this world, is unable to fight a guerrilla war. Bush and his (yes man) generals never had enough troops in Iraq. Bush and America never made the commitment to win in Irag. American youth are not willing to fight this war. How many more you think should die before we decide to leave, and are you willing to be one of them.
A Veteran and Democrat
The Islamic Caliphate (B. S.) The war in the Middle East Is brought on by American backing of Israel and American Military aid to Israel of $3 Billion a year.
The Fundamental Christians right wing believe that the 2nd coming of Christ will be through Israel and Israel must be protected at all costs. The Fundamental Christians ( the Christian Ultra Right wing) aims are the same as those of the Fundamental Islamics. Bush declared the war on Terrorism as a DIRECT result of Bin Ladins planned 9/11 attack. Now you Neo/Cons are saying the major war in Afghanistan is not important. If it is not then there is no war on Terror at all.!! Is there!!
It a war for OIL!! (period)

Because the Democrats only care about gaining political power. And if gaining this power means betraying the troops and supporting the enemy - that is what they have chosen to do.
Besides - I doubt that it is 1 - 5, it is more like 4 in 5 would support the terrorists taking over Iraq in order to gain political power.

I am surprised its as low as 1 in 5! it seems that they are all crying for our loss in Iraq.
Dem Politicians are latched onto the war, and the only way they think they can win the WH next year is if the war goes badly. thats why they tried to pass legislation right BEFORE Petreus' presentation, because they KNEW that he would report major progress.
Traitors? yes. how else can you describe them? One only needs to look at the lead Dem Pres. candidate, Hell-ary Clinton...The obvious disdain she showed toward Gen. Petreus, vs. the obvious JOY she showed toward Hwu, or Hsu, or whatever that Chinese guy's name was....its disgusting to see her hold the US military in such contempt...and SHE wants to be CinC???

Lose what? they are not in a war, but they are occupying a country illegally under the guise offering help - reality US is protecting oil supplies. Don't suppose they will invite themselves to Zimbabwe - no oil but they do have a leader every bit as evil as S Hussein.
