renault 19 cabriolet, in the middle of the rear seat there is a hidden pull out thing, looks like a giant condom.. does any1 know what it is and does ?

It sounds like a ski-bag.
These allow long items (e.g. skis) to be carried in the car, loaded into the boot and the ski-bag.
The bag prevents wet/dirty items (e.g. wet skis) from soiling the car's rear seats.
Some cars have a through-load facility in the centre of the rear seat without a bag, and many have folding rear seats.

well a giant condom is a form of birth control used by giants to prevent unwanted pregnancies and it can also help in the prevention of receiving STD's
