I don't deny my roots. In fact, my religion has never made as much sense as it does now that I study the Jewish roots.
I think America is a much less Christian country than the polls say it is. Either people deceive themselves or the polls are done in heavily Christian areas.

It's "Christian" only because the majority claim Christianity as their religion. Our Gov't isn't established on any Religion, so it's not because of that.
But you do make a good point. I've seen many people say that "America's laws were based on the 10 Commandments". The 10 Commandments were given directly to the Jews and are ONLY for the Jews (some people should read that part of their Bibles - the 10 Commandments were not for everyone)... so even if our laws were based on the 10 (and they're not), it would make this a Jewish Nation.... not a Christian one.

some believe that u . s . a . is a Christian usa; i could not disagree extra. religious Freedom replaced into u . s . a .'s beginning up: the 1st settlers got here right here because of the fact of religious intolerance and over the centuries u . s . a . has stepped forward right into a place the place everyone can come and commence with a sparkling slate, threat, and freedom. If u . s . a . will become a theocracy enforcing Christian ideals onto its electorate than that freedom is misplaced and u . s . a . will become the very usa its unique electorate fled from. Founding ideas: throughout the formation of the yank government our founding fathers placed a seperation of church and state good into the form. exchange I of the form of u . s . a . (the invoice of Rights) states "Congress shall make no regulation respecting a company of religion, or prohibiting the unfastened exercising thereof". it is sweet there interior the 1st actual sentence of the invoice of Rights! No faith would nicely be "u . s . a .'s faith" and all religions could be respected in regulation. even however if it is not needless to say stated Christianity is the respected faith, there are some that prefer to enforce Christian ideals by way of regulation to end the comparable outcomes as making Christianity the respected faith. mutually with making gay marriage unlawful. Many Christians think of all of us could stick to their concept gadget. nevertheless there is not any situation with balloting in accordance to a minimum of one's ideals, it somewhat is faulty to vote in accordance to stated ideals while it inhibits others' rights. Ridiculousness: only take a step back for a 2d. Christianity is the thought that a great being created the universe 6000 years in the past, damned an entire species to affliction and dying because of the fact one woman bit a fruit, that he heavily watches one species on one planet out of trillions upon trillions of worlds (i'm not exaggerating the dimensions of the universe the two) to make particular all of us stick to the stern policies on how he thinks homo sapiens could stay, the whole worldwide flooded killing each and every thing yet one kinfolk and a pair of of each and every species of animal in the worldwide who lived on the comparable boat for 40 days, and a virgin gave delivery to a guy with great powers who then died and got here back to existence. that's what the Bible says. nevertheless maximum different religions are not plenty extra logical it somewhat is ludicrous to assert one's type of insanity is extra clever than yet another.

Elaine,
America is the Land of the Free and it is open to every religious group that choose to be here. We have true freedom of religion and non-religion here. Some of our people are not as open as this but it has gotten better over the last century CHRIST never denied the Jewish People. They denied HIM and had him murdered. Their choice was wrong, NOT HIS! There were 3,000 baptized at Pentecost in Acts 2:38-41. Those Jews became Christians and began HIS CHURCH on Earth. We are an extension of that Church. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks,
Eds
PS... Those who deny HIM will be denied by HIM to the FATHER of us all.
EDIT:
Although I am a Christian, I would be free to worship in any way that I choose in our little town. There are a number of openly agnostic and atheists here also who are not discriminated against. Even though that has not been true in the past!

It's not a Christian country, it simply has a population that is primarily Christian. The country itself _should_ be secular as defined in the "seperation of church and state" part of the Constitution.
Technically the only Christian country is Vatican City. And yes, it is a technically a country in its own right. And please don't argue that it's a Catholic country xD

America is a secular constitutioal republic. Don't let the liars fool you. Nowhere in the constitution is christianity mentioned. The revisionists have to reach back to the Mayflower nuts for their "facts".

It is suppose to be a secular country, but since a majority of Americans are Christians the government has to pander to the majority for votes.

Could you imagine if we really were a nation of Christians?
Loving each other, forgiving our enemies, turning the other cheek; treating each other with kindness, patience, compassion - being humble and considerate.
No - we are certainly not a Christian nation. At best - we are a nation of hypocrites: people who profess one belief and practice another.

Yes. In the same way that Mexico is a Catholic country and India is a Hindu country. It does not mean that country is a fierce theocracy, or that the country is a good representation of that religion, but yet it means that the people are most familiar with that religion and generally ignorant of others.
