There is nothing wrong with Fuji they offer reasonable quality and VFM. However, there is a reason why they appear cheaper for similar sepcs than other manufacturers.
- they tend to use cheaper non headline parts eg advertise a good derailleur and then use the cheaper cassette and chain.
- the frames are just not as well engineered (they are not bad/unreliable) tending not to have all the same lateset technologies and advanced design.
Interestingly the bike you are looking at has SUNTOUR components. SUNTOUR used to be well respected company, but withdrew from US and EU markets in the early-mid 90s. This is the 1st time I have seen SUNTOUR components on a bike in over a decade so can not comment on their current quality
I thought they had actually gone bust and their website is sufficiently vague about such matters (mentions over 70years of R&D but states the company was set up in '87 - Wikepedia is not mush nore helpful in the matter)

My wife rides a flat-bar road bike (Fuji Royale), and has never had a complaint about it. And she puts it through its paces, let me tell you! In the last two-and-a-half years, she's put over 8000 miles (12872 km) on it.
We both really liked the look of the Fuji mountain bikes too, and were interested enough to try acouple out when we replaced our last ones about a year ago. Sadly, the geometry was wrong for both of us (she ended up with a Cannondale Prophet and I have a Gary Fisher Big Sur).
Would we purchase another Fuji? In a heartbeat, as long as the geometry was right.

Fuji makes an excellent bicycle.
I've had a Fuji Boulevard for five years.
Before that, I worked in a bike shop and assembled Fuji bikes.

Overall Fuji makes a good product. They are very similar to bikes by Trek and Giant which use the same components. They are often better values since the name does not have as much equity in the marketplace as the others.

I use to own a Fuji bike about 15 years ago, and back then, the quality was very good.

was strongly considering the purchase of a fuji a few months back when i was in the market for a new bike. i did not end up getting one as ai fond a great deal on another. they are pretty well respected in the road circles and are a pretty good value for thier groupset on many models.

i think they're pretty good, but Ive never ridden one. however, in a shimano xt brochure, it showed two fuji bikes that had a complete xt drivetrain.
