Unfortunately, men get paid more than women because there is a risk that women could get pregnant and the company will have to pay them maternity leave and will have to give their work to someone else who they will have to pay on top of paying the pregnant women,

This really truly sucks. but its the way it is. its yet another down side of being a women...but there are plenty of ups too!!!

men don't. That is against the law, everyone who is working in the same job is paid equal. Are you suggesting that women should get paid more because there are single mums that need more money? and to say that all single men just go off galavanting (good word by the way) is a bit of an over generalisation. We should all be paid equal and we are

This is a hard one to answer without getting shot =P but I'll give it a go at explaining from the point of view of the employer, not my view. OK the general belief is that women are fantastic at juggling lots of different tasks, family home love work etc. It's well known that women can multitask and men just can't. However the other side of this belief is that while women juggle all these things she can't give ONE of them her absolute full attention necessary to do it 100% properly. She is also more likely to feel the stress of it all, dare I say also more hormonal. Plus is more likely to take maternity leave, and personally I do believe that in the first few years of a child's life a baby NEEDS it's mother more than a father and day care centers are just keeping them alive. But anyway, while a man is generally thought to be able to devote him self more entirely to the job, and get it done to a higher specification.... when were not undressing the secretary with our eyes =P but at the end of the day, it's just about balance.

!Hey over here, don't miss me!

simply because there are higher paying jobs that men are willing to do that women don't. construction working might sound like a low paying job but is actually quite high. there are efforts for narrowing the gap though, but just put there are more jobs out there that need man power. not to be sexist.

thats why they have protection for women, men in many cases leave women with the child. they have to give 15% of their earnings if they are separate until the child is 18.

90% of single women with children live under the poverty line.

my auntie, she works in construction and makes the same amount as my dad. $47 an hour, she bids for jobs for the company. she started this job after high school so she didn't need to go to college. she's broke now though because of her dumb boy freind, he used all her money.

all the women making money, good for you. take a look at the odds, you beat them.

In the USA, it is considered sexual discrimination to pay a man more than a woman for the same job. I do agree, though, that men need to step up to the plate as fathers; and know very few men who ARE good fathers.
I think that women need to realize how much MORE powerful and in control they are PRIOR to sexual relations with a man and value themselves more. It seems like the only women who get any respect are those who don't put out--or up with a man's ****!

Because they're employers are sexist... that and depending on the job.. if there is a large or muscular man doing heavy lifting or constructionwork they will most likely get paid more than a woman in thoose fields.. but, a computeraited job the pay should be the same for the men and wemen if they are on the same level of employment.

one day it will all change... i think that all people man or women should get the same rate of pay... and its only a matter of time before women of the world stand up for them self's and rebel against the government idiots who decide that women do not deserve the same as a men.and if by a very slim chance that the law did change in favour of equal pay rates, the government would find a new tax in order to take it back of you lol
