I think a lot of times what looks like judgment is really explanation or correction. When someone posts something that is absolutely not in the Bible and they claim to be Christian, people do jump on it. But there's a difference between showing someone an error, or asking them to prove what they said is Biblical, and judging them.

It can be hard to tell the difference when you can't hear the person's tone of voice.

Edit: Oh, I think you're talking about a different kind of judging. The same thing applies. This is a religion forum, so Christians will explain to non-Christians why their behavior is not according to God. But they know God is the judge, not them.

Knowing right from wrong is required for Christians.

Avoiding sinful behavior, as well as those who might become an occasion for sin is also required.

Opposing evil, wherever it is encountered is also highly recommended.

And whenever possible, all of these things should be done with great sensitivity, so as not to offend anyone.

Unfortunately, some people think they have the right to sin openly and publicly, and then go around claiming that what they do is not a sin at all, inviting others to do likewise.

These are often the same people who take offense at any type of fraternal correction, no matter how mild or well intentioned, calling anyone who attempts to correct them as "quick to judge".

What is definitely prohibited is any attempt at determining what the eternal destiny of any other sinner might be, as that privilege belongs to God alone.

Otherwise, every Christian is called to constantly discern right from wrong ... choose right ... and avoid or oppose wrong.

Ah, but the whole "rule" is do not judge lest you be judged by the same measure you mete out. In other words, whatever you used to judge another person, you better be willing to have someone else judge you in the exact same way. (And actually, the Greek leans more towards *do not condemn* - but either way, they ignore most of the rule).

Not all Christians do it, but the one's who do... I honestly think that they think Jesus died and left them in charge. And if you judge them for their actions, they throw that "do not judge" out there hoping it will make people back off. It's the hypocrites like this that make the whole religion seem worthless.

You like the countless multitude of unbelievers before you have misinterpreted that verse. Read the end of it. It teaches to be able to judge and not be a hypocrite. Scripture mandates to make all kinds of judgments and in fact Paul made many!

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. -Romans 12:9

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. -2 Corinthians 10:5

Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. -James 4:4

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. -1 Corinthians 10:21

They judge science and evolution and those who support science all the time.

What would Jesus say if he came back today and saw the modern day Christians?

Brood of Vipers. Get behind me. He would overturn their temples and cast out the money lenders!

Matthew 7:1 "“Stop judging that YOU may not be judged; 2 for with what judgment YOU are judging, YOU will be judged; and with the measure that YOU are measuring out, they will measure out to YOU. 3 Why, then, do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the rafter in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Allow me to extract the straw from your eye’; when, look! a rafter is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to extract the straw from your brother’s eye. "

and Matthew 7:21-23 "“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness"

THEY STILL HAVEN´T READ these verses.

there is many Christian that do not judge. they are the faithfull and obedient type. they walk according to the teaching of the bible.
me, I'm the one you mention, still worldly and is happy about it. we go for blood. that is why they call us a mean Christian. we judge because we want to let that person down. kind like bullying. the more we judge the more satisfaction we derive. we like to see their faces frown.

I don't think there's much wrong with judging, we all do it, all the time, you've even done it with your question - I think the problem is when we condemn

We do not judge; we spread the gospel, share the good news, tell people the truth.

And to their guilty conscience, the truth feels like judgment.
