Sure... life is given to us to prepare to meet God, that when we do we are ready, cleansed, and will not be ashamed when we meet Him.

It will be like this.... say a woman loves her husband and wants to throw a surprise party for him. She gets together the man's sons and daughters, his brothers and sisters, his parents and grandparents, and they agree to buy nice gifts to show her love for this man.

The prepared man, will have done many things that will have pleased his friends and family, and won't be ashamed when he walks inside the house and they yell surprise, and he feels unworthy for thier love, yet feels blessed and joy in this love.

The unprepared or wicked man, thinks his family is gone on a trip (yet they are out buying gifts) and brings home his secretary he is having a fling with. The lights are out and he and the secretary get undressed to do their thing. All of a sudden the lights are turned on and everybody yells "Surpri.... er... " ...dead silence. What is the man to do? Continue on as if nothing happened? Try to excuse or justify what he is doing? I think not. He will behold the love and gifts his family had offered him, and behold his nakedness and shame... and will skulk off in shame and guilt.

The purpose of life is to prepare... or not prepare depending on our choice. Endless joy and happiness, or endless guilt and shame. How will we fare when we face Jesus at the judgment day and behold the nail scarred hands and the love He offered us? Will we embrace the love, or like the man caught in adultery behold our sins and the hurt we did to others and skulk off in shame... being more comfortable in hell?

Matt 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

How about an athiest view? We are here for no particular reason (althogh there is a train of thought that suggests genes created macroorganisms for the sole purpose of genetic immortality). Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah... life was created by natural phenomena, has no real purpose, and ends when we die.

Depressing? NO! Look around you, at the trees, the birds, your dog - isn't it so fantastic that these organisms have evolved to what they are today? Isn't nature so very cool?

Yes indeed. Life without purpose is like a car without a wheel or a kite without a string. The purpose in life varies from one individual to another, and it depends on what do they believe and how do they grow/develop themselves. Some live to work, whereas others work to live.
As a Christians, my purpose in live is to give a meaningful contribution to the society based on the talents that God has blessed me with, so that when I die, I can say to my God: "I have done evertyhing, for you My Lord...Thank you for everything"

Yes, it does.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities.

In His infinite goodness, God could not keep all to Himself the happiness of existence He enjoyed in heaven. Just as we may love our pets very much, cats and dogs are just not able to share with us the happiness we feel from music and sunsets and Super Bowls. Only our children can do that. This is why God had to create us as His true children. But complete free will is the essence of His nature. So we, His true children, also had to have complete free will, only without the infinite power and wisdom. That makes things difficult. That makes it possible and even likely for us to refuse to accept God's authority.

Christians viewpoint: We all have a God-given purpose, and it's a purpose that we can not run from. God does and will fulfill His purpose in our life and He uses the things we love to do best.

LIFE has all the meaning and purpose it was given by the ONE who gave it. The mind is always trying to give it new meanings and purposes. Mind is coloring "What IS".

It can. Is this not the most important question in life though? I think a question of this magnitude should only be up to the individual to decide the answer.
