Dear B. D,
I did not fall of the potatoe truck yesterday nor am I green behind the ears. I was a Democrat for 25 years even voted Democrat in last Novembers election. I was a UAW member. I watch C-SPAN and the BBC. I loath big business Republicans and Bush but I have seen a big change in my community. Middle aged family members and neighbors losing their jobs and homes. While thousands of non-English speaking illegal immigrants have been pouring into my city taking jobs legal Americans would work at. I have seen welfare and ADC used by these people in the grocery store I have shopped at for 20 years. My health care and taxes going up coinsides with mass illegal immigration. We live paycheck to paycheck. I simply can't afford more cost and lower wages and job loss. It has become a matter of economic survival. If Amnesty is passed ,illegals will be able to bring in many family members. Ten x 12 mill, all drawing off welfare, etc. Your city and tax could triple overnight!

I agree with the tax loop holes and the high expense of the war. I disagree with the rest of you statement.
Yes there is legal hispanic immigrants but there are many more who are not legal. Illegal immigrants come from all nationalities. I have known immigrants whom have worked here illegally, avoided paying taxes and enjoyed the benefits of our social programs.
When we decide to see something, we gather evidence to support our opinions and neglect to look at opposing ideas.
I agree with this just look at your statement.
Only Republicans commit fraud?
Do you really believe this?

In 1996, Congress enacted the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act, making it a federal crime for non-citizens to vote in any federal election (or state election, unless authorized by state law). As a penalty, ineligible non-citizens who knowingly vote may be deported. Additionally, a non-citizen who falsely claims to be a United States citizen is in violation of this law.
However, there are many documented reports of non-citizen voting,[1] [2] and there is no evidence of prosecution of the aliens for their action. With nearly 19 million foreign-born residents who are not U.S. citizens in the country in the 2000 Census and an estimated 9-11 million illegal residents (many of them not also counted in the Census), the potential is enormous for non-citizens to affect the outcome of elections.
Charges were made in at least three federal elections in California [3] [4] and twice in Florida[5] that voting by ineligible aliens may have determined the outcome of the election. For instance:
* In Florida, election observers say a “sizable number” of Florida votes in the 2000 election may have been cast by ineligible felons, illegal immigrants, and non-citizens. [6]
* In California, former Republican Rep. Robert K. Dornan was defeated by Democrat Loretta Sanchez by 984 votes in the 1996 election. State officials found that at least 300 votes were cast illegally by non-citizens.[7]
Investigation of the allegations established that aliens had illegally voted in those elections, but not in sufficient numbers to have changed the result. Authorities appear not to have prosecuted any of the aliens who voted illegally.
It appears that in at least most of these cases, aliens who voted illegally may have done so unknowingly. This is a result of the enactment of The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) ― known as the Motor-Voter law ― which made the process of registering to vote nearly automatic for people applying for a state driver’s license or ID card, and called for distributing registration applications in state welfare offices.[8] Under this law, the information supplied by the applicant for a license doubles as information for voter registration unless the applicant indicates that he/she does not want to be registered to vote.[9] With driver’s licenses made available by several states to aliens (both legal and illegal), it seems likely that voter rolls now contain large numbers of non-citizens ― enough in close elections to change the outcome if those aliens illegally vote.[10] An effort in Congress in 1998 to preclude the registration of non-citizens was narrowly defeated.[11]
It is possible that some illegal aliens applying for driver’s licenses deliberately, rather than accidentally, may seek voter registration, in order to help establish identity for the purposes of illegal employment. The employer sanctions law adopted in 1986 to deter employment of illegal aliens allows a voter registration card to be used as one of the documents that establishes the employee’s identity. That document, plus a Social Security card, is all that is necessary to establish work eligibility.
Compounding the potential for non-citizen voting to corrupt our election process are two other offshoots from the 1993 NVRA. Absentee voting has become ubiquitous, so there is no opportunity for the elections officials to challenge the voter in person as a possible illegal voter or to monitor the voting to assure that the voter is voting independently. And, those who would challenge the eligibility of voters are constrained by protections against intimidation of voters.
The solution to the potential for aliens illegally voting and thereby corrupting elections is obvious. Anyone applying for voter registration who is foreign born should be asked to provide evidence of U.S. citizenship, and that information should be verified with the citizenship records of the Department of Homeland Security.

[2] “Putnam Opposed Voting Reform Act,” Lakeland, Florida Ledger, December 17, 2001. Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL) is quoted: “Now we find that one of the guys that flew into the buildings in New York had voted in Florida,” (referring to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers). “Think about it,” he said. “You are told you are entitled to public assistance and then almost in the same breath asked if you want to register to vote. Now, if you think that registering to vote is tied to getting assistance or to getting your driver’s license, you are going to say, ‘Yes.’”

First of all, the only ones to commit election fraud are Republicans. Think Florida.
There are a few holes in your opinions that as an intelligent person you should address.
Illegal aliens are taking jobs from Americans. Not. Americans won't do most of the jobs that they do, like picking fruit and vegetables for almost nothing. If every illegal alien left tomorrow, the economy would collapse. Large corporations depend on being able to pay people to work for virtually nothing.
Illegal aliens are on welfare. Sorry, even if they are, which is now illegal due to a Supreme Court decision, that is not what is driving up your taxes. We have a little thing called a full scale war that is creating a budget deficit that hammers the economy. The government would like you to be placing the blame on illegals so that you won't look at the war and tax loopholes for large corporations which are draining the economy far more than illegal immigrants. "State corporate income taxes are long overdue for a thorough examination. The corporate income tax laws of the majority of states are riddled with loopholes that permit many large multistate corporations to avoid paying tax on a significant share of their profits."
Another thing that is impacting our economy is the high price of oil. Meanwhile the oil companies are making windfall profits. "Thursday, ExxonMobil reported first-quarter net income of $8.4 billion. If estimates hold true, the top three American oil companies will have earned more profit in three months than President Bush's proposed savings for eliminating 141 federal programs next year."
Another area where your thinking seems muddled. You are making the assumption that the Hispanics you see using welfare stamps are illegal. Actually, many Hispanics are legal and have been for generations.
The other day a employee at Lowe's was telling me that this Puerto Rican woman was illegally using welfare and health services. He was very surprised to find out that Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the USA and it's citizens are allowed full rights as a citizen.
My feeling is that once we decide to see something, we gather evidence to support our opinions and neglect to look at opposing ideas.

They did the last election. Most are register Republicans which is odd. They are not well off. I guess because the party line is pro business. Business is pro cheap labor which makes them pro illegals.
BD MAC: I am sorry but you are mis informed. On the voter registration card you send to your local board of elections has no space for Social Security number. Also if an illegal comes here and has children here then does children are legal citizens even if the parents come here illegally. They can get a social security card legally and apply for MediCal welfare and any other government assistance.

Yes, illegal aliens will vote in the next presidential election with the help of the Democrats. That is why Hillary said that about $5,000 for every new baby born. Who do you think is pooping out a new baby every 10 months or so? Illegal aliens.

No! You have been listening to the Right-Wing bigots too much! The illegal immigrants cannot get social services like Aid to Dependant Children, Welfare, etc...etc.. you must have a social security number to get these services. They cannot vote either because they need what? A Social Security Number! You cannot get one unless you are a legal citizen!
If you want to do something try checking your sources rather than listen to one source and buying their smoke screen. Funny how every time something the Republicans or the Bush Administration does hits the news, the illegal alien problem becomes important or gay marriage or any other hot button issue. That way everyone gets up in arms and forgets all the illegal and immoral crap Bush and the Republicans are pulling.
Try to be informed. Check various news sources both print and radio and Television. Try watching the BBC too! Sometimes the truth is not shown to us at all, we have to watch other countries news to see what is happening here.

they have already done it. What do you think these illegals and their advocates are all about? They are most happy and comfy when trampling over and stepping over laws and regulations. Where I live, they had official signs in SPANISH telling people where to vote.
It's the ultimate goal of these illegals to turn this country into a country of lawlessness, because that's what they want: to live like they did AT THEIR HOME COUNTRY!!

I doubt it, as they would need to be a U.S. citizen to vote. In most places you must also present some form of identification at the polling location to vote. It would be very difficult for any illegal immigrant to register to vote without being found out.
