I've been trying to get over my cold and nasty cough. I noticed now that when I cough, mucus or whatever keeps on trying to come out but I just can't seem to spit it out. Is it boogers/mucus? I know it sounds gross but since I can't spit it out, I just end up swallowing it. Does it go down to my stomach and get filtered out or does it go to my lungs and gets tangled up in there? Also, is there any way to not have all these mucus/boogers wanting to come out whenever I have a bad cough again? Any information will help.
Thanks in advance!

go to the store and get you some Musinex and some Robotusin Deconjestant Cough Medicine and some Extra Strength Tylenol and take those and Hot showers and it will break up the congestion and get rid of it.
Antibotics don't work on this my Dr. Said it is a viral infection and has to be given time to wear out. Get as much rest as possible. She also said eat chicken noodle soup and drink lots of fluids

Sounds like you have an upper respiratory infection with what is termed as an "unproductive cough" (the mucus is there, but won't come up.) You need an expectorant (helps mucus loosen and you can cough it up). yes, it's probably "boogers" dripping back down from your nose. For that part, buy a neti pot and irrigate your sinus with mild salt water (look up neti pot on the web).

I have had great luck with homeopathic remedies!! Go online and type in homeopathic remedies. the best site I have found is Elixirs.com.

I cracked a rib with a cough like what you describe; the doctor wanted to put me on antibiotics (again!) I took several homeopathic remedies that I read about on that site, and overnight, my symptoms improved about 70% and I could heal after that!

You'll see a place on the website to find your symptoms Just type in your symptoms; (for example, is the mucus stringy, thick, ropy? cough worse after midnight (so you cough all night and are unable to sleep?)

you can buy homeopathic remedies at your health food store. they really work! and, they do no harm. Also, while healing, eat NO dairy or wheat or white sugar; you'll heal a lot better and more quickly.

You can take a cough medicine with a expectorant which will help to dilute this and you will be able to cough it up. Do you have breathing/lung problems that makes it hard for you to get enough force to spit this out? Usually this type of stuff goes right on down to your stomach which may upset it or cause loose stools as you try to get rid of it.

Sounds like you have bronchitis. Is it a deep cough? If you also feel bad and your chest is sore you need to go get a prescription antibiotic.
