All stds are preventable (practice safe sex) and yes some std can be passed down during labor from mother to baby (one of the example is herpes II) and some stds can cause cancer (e.g Human papillomavirus (HPV)).

All STD's can be prevented by avoiding sex.

Syphilis, gonorrhea, and hepatitis B can be passed mother to child.

Human papilloma virus is spread sexually and some types of HPV are thought to cause cervical cancer.
