Does anyone out there know where I can get a really good veggie burger or a recipe on how to make one? The one that I made called for oats, carrots, bellpepper, garlic, onion. kidney beans, and ketchup and blend it all together. It tasted terrible.I'm trying out a few vegetarian recipes as I decide to go vegetarian . Even though my veggie burger recipe (found on the internet) did not turn out so well I do not want to give up on it because I hear that they taste really good. So please if anyone knows how or where to get a good veggie burger please let me know. Thanks

Most of Morningstar's products are fairly good. The Grillers Prime is the best, although it has the most fat. You really have to try and taste all the different options out there to know what you like. If you want to make your own they have ground beef substitutes. Mix some of them with an egg, some ketchup or tomato sauce, some hard cheese (like parmesean) and add spices (pepper, garlic salt, etc.) Nuke it until the frozen meat substitute is less frozen and then mix some breadcrumbs so that it holds a shape and stick it into the oven until it is cooked inside. I like my burgers wrapped in a tortilla instead of a bun, sometimes the bread can be too much.

You don't have to use a specific recipe. The one you listed doesn't sound very good to me, but you can always tweak recipes to your own liking. I have been experimenting with making my own veggie burgers because I don't usually like the pre made frozen ones and they often have more sodium in them than I want. Check the ingredients list because some brands contain eggs if that is a concern for you. It's really all about trying different foods and ways to cook them to find out what you do and do not like.

Garden burger, morningstar farms, and boca, all have some good veggie burgers, in many varieties. All of these brands can be found in most decent sized grocery stores. A warning though, most of them are vegetarian, not vegan.

Get a Gardenburger and read the ingredients. The one that comes first is the largest ratio and the one ingredient which is last is the smallest ingredient by weight.
In a good veggie burger by Gardenburger MUSHROOMS is the largest ingredient.

Boca burgers are really good, and they don't just have to be used for grilling. They already taste great, and you don't havae to go through the trouble to making them yourself. At school, we actually made a Boca parmesan that was phenomenal.

Just about any supermarket should have frozen veggie burger patties. If yours doesn't, put in a suggestion.

Don't cook them yourself just go to Trader Joe's or other small markets and buy thier 'Garderburger' brand variety of veggie burgers.

I think the mushroom based ones, cooked on a grill, taste better than the others.
