so these are the facts. i was 19 yrs old and contracted genital herpes, received treatment, and have been teseted every year for the last 5. I have NOT had an outbreak, and I have been punctual in getting re tested. all tests have been NEGATIVE. and i had been with the same man for 3 yrs...recently divorced, and am in a new relationship. because i have not had an outbreak, and no tests were positive I have been learly to tell him. I know he has a right to know, (and now that i know i plan on being with him for a while). should i tell him or should i wait for a longer time. and HOW should i tell him???????????

Tell him before you two have sex - he has the right to know. If you have already been sexually active with him TELL HIM NOW.
How would you feel if the situation was reversed, and whoever gave you the disease knew they had it but didn't tell you because they didn't know the right time? Wouldn't that make you resentful too?
Just tell him what you have here, and let him decide if he wants to continue. But make sure that he has the correct information.

Yes, you should tell your boyfriend. He will resent you for it later if you do not. If you love each other then you both have responsibilities to be completely honest, especially when this can affect his health also. I don't think he will leave you for it. Good luck

Yes, it's morally ethical - and responsible - to inform ANYONE you're with of your past. If he loves you, it won't matter to him, and the both of you can take protective measures to ensure no spreading happens.
And if it DOES matter to him, then he's a douche bag and you should leave him.

If he has HIV, don't you think it would be a good idea for him to tell you?? So why do you wanna keep him from knowing about your problem?? I'm not saying that he has HIV, but I'm just giving you an example.

you need to tell him and i think somewhere in your mind you already know that
it's ok to be upset about it and the Q: if you should tell him or not but you need to best of luck to you.
just sit down with him and tell him everything all of it
if he cares abouut you he will try is best to understand.
try to be there for him
he needs you jsut as much as you need him

I have herpes... and it does NOT go away. Once you have it you have it for life. 73% of people who get herpes get it when the person they are with have no symptoms of an outbreak... this is how I got it.
Don't risk giving this the the new man in your life until you have talked to him about it.
Herpes does not go away. You have it and will have it for life... I don't know where you are getting your info from!!!

You should tell him so you won't have that "dark cloud hanging over your relationship" if you guys meant to be then it shouldn't change anything between the two of you!
