It seems that brown rice is always more expensive, but isn't it the raw form (or close to it) of rice? Doesn't it cost more money to refine rice to make white rice? Thanks.

Simple supply and demand. People are willing to pay more for "health food." Thus, stores are able to charge more without people questioning it (or at least without most people questioning it).

Brown rice also is more healthy than white rice -- it has the fiber which is good for one's health. If more and more people start eating brown rice, maybe, the prices will start to go down a bit.

Yes, it does but people are willing to pay more for brown rice. Marketing 101.

White rice is more of a commodity so it sells cheap, competing on price. Brown rice is more of a ritzy specialty item so they crank up its price as high as they can get away with because they know the health conscious will pay for the privilege of eating it.
