Once when I went antiquing with my mom there was an adorable teashop above one of the antique stores. They served scones with butter (they had been pressed in rose molds...they were adorable) lemon curd (don't let the name fool you, its delicious) and different jams. There was quite a selection. You can also serve finger sandwiches, cookies...try different recipe websites to get ideas. Try using delicate chinaware if its available to you. As for activities, make up a questionaire about yourself...see how well your friends know you...have small gifts for the one with the most correct answers. And/or (you'll need the help of someone else with this...after spending time with your guests, leave the room...have someone read questions about you like "what color were your shoes", see how much they pay attention. There are many websites that will give you more ideas tat would be suitable. You might look at bridal shower game ideas also for more ideas. As for what to wear...I would go shabby chic...lean toward feminine with a little bit of old fashioned thrown in there. Hope this helps and have fun!! :)

It depends, if you want an american or an english tea party. obviously petite fors and finger sandwiches. dresses and gloves, opaque tights or skin toned hose are always best. hats are usually worn at an english tea. cucumber sandwiches are divine. Go to Borders, there are many tea party etiquette books to choose from. Pick the one that best fits your style (classic, fun, grown-up, laid-back, whatever). The right book will advise clothes, activities, rules and even give a few recipies for sandwiches.

Nothing but finger foods! Cucumber sandwiches, truffles for desert, marzipan for desert, etc. I would also go to some local thrift shops and see if I could collect a teacup for each guest...very old fashioned and eclectic looking and also, of course, have a wide variety of teas on hand. Maybe purchase each guest a pair of lace gloves as well...that way they can take those and their teacup home as a favor of sorts. This sounds fun!
