My boyfriend moved to Arizona during the summer and he came and suprised me not that long ago. Hes only staying here for two weeks and is leaving on the day of our 11th month anniversery. I want to take him to dinner the night before. Only i don't know where to take him. I want to suprise him and i wanna have fun and i want him to enjoy his time with me before he leaves. Im even thinking of making him dinner instead. But if I do, what should I cook him? Where should I take him or what should I do?

Steak and Shrimp Special Recipe courtesy Mr. Lucky's 24/7
Show: $40 a Day
Episode: Las Vegas, NV

4 (8-ounce) New York strip sirloin steaks
Steak seasoning
8 ounces clarified butter
12 raw shrimp, skewered (3 on each skewer)
16 ounces raw French fries
Salt
4 lemon wedges, for garnish

Preheat a grill to high. Alternatively, preheat a broiler to high. Season the steaks liberally with the steak seasoning on both sides. Cook the steaks over high heat to order: about 2 minutes on each side for rare, 2 1/2 minutes on each side for medium-rare, 3 1/2 minutes on each side for medium, and 4 1/2 minutes on each side for medium well. Halfway through the cooking time on each side, turn each steak 45 degrees to make grill marks.
Add half the clarified butter to a large skillet and heat over high heat. Add the shrimp skewers and cook the shrimp on both sides until they are opaque throughout, about 1 to 2 minutes per side.

Fill a deep fryer with oil and heat it to 350 degrees F. Alternatively, heat oil in a large, heavy Dutch oven to 350 degrees F; do not fill pan more than halfway full with oil. Drop the fries into the fryer and cook until they are golden brown, about 5 minutes. Remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain and season the fries with salt.

To serve, place 1 steak on a plate, top the steak with skewered shrimp, and add some French fries. Garnish with a lemon wedge and serve with a small dish of clarified butter on the side. Serve immediately.

If you're a good cook, it's always romantic. But if you're not - you don't want him to remember you by a yucky burnt tuna noodle cassarole (lol)

If you aren't the greatest cook - go to the place you had your first date! Or get all dressed up and go to the fanciest place in town (idk where you live, the place here is Hyde Park - but whtevr floats your boat.)

If you are a good cook, well - what does he like?? If he's a steak guy - file min'on with mashed potatoes and steamed broccli. Seafood? Lobster or crab legs. Vegitarian? How about a pasta! Think of something you both love.

Now for dessert. Of course if you go somewhere you can order something or just pass. But if you're cooking - ALWAYS make dessert. It's better that you make dessert and he doesn't eat it than not make it at all. It just shows you put more time into this. I'd pick whatever is his favorite.

I know this doesn't really help all that much - there's still so many choices! But you truely know him best and you can decide what to do.

Cook for him---you guys can enjoy a more intimate setting. You don't have to be a great cook---just make sure it's something that you know he loves. Fondue is romantic, do you have a fondue pot?? Consider an indoor "starlight" picnic with wine, cheese, fruit, fresh bread, chocolates, etc. Feed each other. Dim the lights and string white xmas lights around. Play some cool music. Set up blankets and pillows and eat on the ground. Wear a sexy outfit for him---maybe something that you wouldn't be able to get away with in public! Enjoy!

No question about it......make dinner for him! It shows that it's really coming from your heart..and depending on what he likes to eat, try and make a favorite of his, if your unsure how to make it go to www.foodnetwork.com and you can find any recipe, than maybe you two can go out somewhere special that you like to go or maybe a first date place! Just staying in can be very romantic, with a movie, some candles, some fun dessert treats that you can play with together( if you catch my drift) ..if the romance thing is not really the way you wanted to go..and you just wanted to make sure he has a great time ,then use his hobbies to plan what to do after dinner. just some suggestions!

Unless you have a special restaurant to go to, then cook. Cornish game hens are easy. And some stuffing, gravy and mashed potatoes.

Then spread out a huge blanket on the floor in front of the TV, grab all the pillows, light some candles, and pop in a good movie. I call it a "carpet picnic". Just grab the food in the kitchen and sprawl out on the blanket and eat and enjoy each other!

I would make him a nicely grilled steak (get a good cut such as t-bone),baked potato with sour cream and chives and fresh aspapragus, steamed. You could add freshly grilled mushrooms with the steak.
For dessert,you could make cheesecake.
Decorate with some candles and fresh flowers and have his favourite music playing in the background.
I think it would be nice to spend the time alone before he has to leave rather than going out for dinner.

You could go out camping and spend the whole day and night together. Talk about all the things that you two love about each other, fun memories, make some of his favorite food maybe. And if you don't mind sharing him on his last day you could maybe throw him a little good-bye party with close friends and family.

Make something good but simple for dinner ... I don't know what your culinary skills are ... or order good take out from a nice restaurant and have fondue for dessert ... whatever kind of chocolate and then have lots of options for dipping - my favorites are strawberries, bananas, marshmellows, pound cake bites, graham crackers, pretzels ... I could keep going but you get the point. Have fun!
