You didn't mention how many of the 5 folks are kids or what their ages are, so perhaps you're having all adults. Nevertheless, here are some menu ideas:

1. Baked ziti with Turkey Italian Sausage; green salad; french bread with herbs and cheese
2. Beef stew with dumplings; baby lettuce salad with shaved parmesan and a vinagrette.
3. Chicken pot pie; spinach salad with candied walnuts, bacon, mandarin oranges and a dijon vinagrette
4. Pork roast with a white wine dijon sauce, mashed garlic potatos, glazed ginger carrots
5. Teriyaki salmon, grilled; seasoned ginger sweet potatos; fresh green beans with almonds
6. Swedish meatballs over noodles; peas
7. Baked macadamia nut crusted halibut; twice baked potatos; iceburg lettuce with shrimp and Thousand Island Dressing.
8. Stuffed flank steak (bread and sausage stuffing); sauteed spinach with garlic and parmesan; baked apples with cinnamon.
9. Chicken Caesar Salad; french bread; cheese platter with crisp red and green globe grapes
10. Lentil and Ham soup; warm Rosemary Potato bread and sweet butter; smoked gouda and Irish cheddar cheeses with fresh melon.
11. Spaghetti with meatballs and turkey Italian sausage; antipasti salad; hot garlic bread
12. Pork chops baked with saurkraut (mixed with chopped apple and brown sugar); mashed potatos; green beans
13. Macaroni and Cheese (made with cheddar, bleu, fontina, and american cheeses); meatballs; three bean salad.

The list goes on. With each you can have a fabulous dessert, such as apple crisp with vanilla bean ice cream, or chocolate chunk brownies. And, don't forget the wine! Try a good Merlot, Chianti, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc with any of the above.

Make a lasagna. No matter how bad of a cook you are or what recipe you use, it's always good. I don't think I've ever eaten a bad lasagna. You can prepare it ahead of time. Have it all ready to put in the oven at least one hour before you're ready to eat. Bake it for about 45 minutes. Just make sure it sits at least 15 minutes before you cut into it so it stays nice and firm. Throw some italian bread in the oven after you slather it with butter and garlic. Toss a salad and you're good to go.

Pot lasagna . You get some ground beef two spaghetti seasoning packs and two jars of Prego marinara sauce. Some Kraft shredded Pizza cheese and cheddar cheese. Buy some mosticolli pasta. Boil pasta while browning meat then add spaghetti seasoning and spaghetti sauce . Drain pasta and put in large skillet or pot and mix in meat then mix in cheese. Leave enough cheese to put on top and fill one of the sauce jars with water to thin out sauce so its not dry. Bake garlic bread and make salad.

JFK Lobster Stew
6 live 1-pound lobsters
8 ounces (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup dry Sherry (either amantillado or fino), plus 1/2 cup
6 cups whole milk
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Chopped fresh parsley

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Plunge the lobsters head first into the boiling water, in batches, if necessary, and cook, covered, for 5 minutes. Transfer the lobsters with tongs to a large bowl filled with ice water to cool. When the lobsters are cool enough to handle, crack the shells, remove the tail and claw meat, and coarsely chop. Reserve the shells. Tightly cover the meat and refrigerate.
In a large Dutch oven, melt 4 ounces (1 stick) of butter over medium-high heat. Add the shells and cook, stirring, until they turn bright red, 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1 cup of the Sherry and bring to a boil. Cook until reduced by half, about 3 minutes. Add the milk, cream, paprika, salt, and pepper, and return to the boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until slightly thickened, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool. Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight for the flavors to develop.

Remove the milk and shell mixture from the refrigerator and strain into a clean container through a fine mesh strainer. Set aside. In a large, heavy pot, melt the remaining 4 ounces (1 stick) of butter over medium-high heat. Add the chopped lobster meat and cook, stirring, until lightly colored, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of Sherry and increase the heat to high. Cook, stirring, to deglaze the pan and until reduced by half. Add the strained milk mixture and bring to a low boil. Simmer, stirring, until heated through.

Remove from the heat and adjust the seasoning, to taste. Spoon into bowls and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately
