Not the red dye, but I've heard from many people, and one of my friends called the company's number because her beliefs don't allow her to eat animal product, and they said that she should stay away from hot cheetos products.

Lucky for you I happen to know! I know because I am allergic to it!!
Sodium Caseinate. It is actually in a LOT of products. Casein is activated by rennet, a derivative of the lining in a cows stomach.

Casein is derived from milk, I'm not sure if it always has rennet. Rennet is rarely listed as an ingredient in the USA--it's generally called "enzymes" but I'm not sure if "enzymes" always mean rennet.

There is also a red food coloring called cochineal which comes from a type of insect. It is also called carmine. I'm not sure why you said "not the red dye" so I'm including this.

um, I've never eaten cheetos and never plan to, nor do I know much about them, but I'm assuming that it might be the oil that they're fried in..? correct me if I'm wrong about them being fried in oils.
