really guys!! I think you all gave me a great idea....retro. Like retro foods, games, music....all things he would remember as a teen. Maybe even hang up newspaper clipping and magazine articles from 1977. Keep the ideas comin.

I think party favors are fun! We are all kids inside to some degree!

How about Retro candy from 30 years ago? Some of the old fashioned candy's we remember from our youth might be fun. Pop Rocks, or Blow-pops? Candy necklaces? Ring pops?

Or good old "pin the tail on the donkey" ... with a prize for the winner. I think the theme of party favors & nostalgic fun would be fun!

I'd love going to a party like that!

Go for it! The only ones who would take issue would be those too stiff necked to unwind enough to enjoy an unconventional and "innocent" party such as this.

I'm also faced with the same party issue, as I want to plan a fun party for my new husband (35). He's been so busy running his own business he doesn't have time to unwind.

Turns out he wants to do a bowling night with friends. Now if I can just keep it under $150.00 we'll be doing great! I'm thinking pizza, pop, and only a pitcher or two of beer. The rest will be byob.

It might be, but go ahead and be child-like! There's a child in each of us. Pinata sounds great & I think everyone would enjoy taking home a little bag of goodies or something. It can't all be lively, though. After the excitement of the pinata, etc., have everyone sit around the room and have a round- robin ghost or other story. You could also have group singing with the guests suggesting titles of folk-songs, hymns, current hits, Elvis songs, etc.

Have fun!

A child's birthday theme was just what I did for my daughter's 30th birthday. I told her it was the last " Mommy and Daddy" party she was having. Everything was very child like ( except for the alcohol ). She and her friends had a blast. Look at this site to see if you can find some games to play.

NO way! i would totally throw a party with favors. Right now i do it for my kid. But if i didn't have him i would totally do it for myself! lol. It would be great to have that childhood feeling again and I'm sure your guests will have a blast too. No adult is to old for games and little gifts =) Hope u have a fun b-day!
