You might be allergic to soy or something else in the cereal.
Some folks have more than one food allergy; it's not that unusual.
I hope it's not true in your case, sounds like a drag.

If you're lactose intolerant that means your body can't process lactose because you don't have the lactase enzyme. Just because something says "milk" does not mean it contains lactose like the person above says. You could be allergic to soy, a lot of people are, or it's possible you are allergic to milk. Check out the label on the cereal box, a lot of times lactose can be added to the cereal...in which case you're still consuming it, even if it's not in the "milk" form. Whey can also be a culprit. Sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to something

I got an allergy test, but it came back negative - but I still get rashes, swollen lips and breathing problems when I eat soy. Allergy tests, I've been told by my doctor, are fairly inaccurate. Soy allergies are pretty common in non-Asians. If you can, still get the test, but if it's negative, don't automatically rule out soy as the culprit.
If your cereal has only foods you've been exposed to before - check the ingredients carefully - then you can fairly rule it out unless you've recently developed the allergy.
Once you rule out other allergens, avoid it carefully, because my allergy gets worse and worse every time I am exposed to soy. Try switching to almond milk - it's pretty tasty, actually - or rice milk if you can't get almond. Make sure it's enriched, though.

Sounds like allergic reaction. There is a high cross over of persons who suffer from both cow milk & soy allergies. Bummer. Need allergy skin or blood tests. Keep food diary as well before making an appt. it'll be quicker.

You are probably allergic to the soy. Do you get the same reaction from tofu and other soy products?

You need to find out what else you are allergic to, this throat swelling thing can get very dangerous, and it can get worse with each successive incident, to where you can't breathe.

Anaphylaxis--- i.e. allergic reaction. As mentioned you may have more than one food allergy. Hopefully it's not to "grain" as you find in cereals ... that's a real bummer to deal with.
Check with an allergist for some patch tests.
