Are shells considered to be vegan? Or are just certain ones considered not vegan? I have a necklace made of shells, and I have collected shells from the ocean. What's the perspective on this issue?

One could argue that people die in their homes and other people move in... I don't really agree with the fur comparison.

However, I wouldn't wear 'em. Why? Cause people need to stop looking at animals in generally as something they can own or use. Dead or alive.

Hope this helps.

Since a shell is an animal product, it's not vegan. When you collect empty shells, I don't think you're doing any harm except if that shell could be used by another creature (a hermit crab, for example).
I've got shell jewelry too, which I aquired *years* before becoming veg. I can't bring myself to wear it, as I have no idea how the shells were gathered & whether animals died in the process (as is the case with pearls).

Hmm. That's a really good question. o_o...
I'm a vegetarian, And I adore the appearance of a shiny shell.

I don't think it would be Vegan to collect one though...
Maybe if it were alive, And you put it in a safe environment in your household? Because animals live in shells, So yeah.. >_>

I don't think it would be too Vegan to collect a dead animal's cover?

Think of Turtle shells.. >_>

Yeah. [:

Good question. I would say non-vegan though. Would it be vegan to wear an animal's fur after it's died of natural causes?

Let's see what the pseudo-vegans here have to say.
