There is one thing I don't understand:

You can catch chlamydia once by sleeping with someone who has the infection. .... But I read that it can be spread between you and your partner if you carry on having sex with the disease. This does not make sense to me. Once u have chlamydia from the first time u got infected how can u keep getting it everytime u sleep with your gf/bf after that???

can someone please explain

What is meant is that you will continually be infected as long as you and/or your partner have the STD. So, if you receive treatment and get cleared, you will re-infect yourself the next time you have sex with your infected partner.

The disease can clear up on its own eventually. But say it clears up in one partner quicker than in the other...The partner who's still infected could re-infect the other and the disease can just keep getting passed back and forth this way. That's why it's important to get tested and get treated.

Edited to add: It "CAN" clear up on its own, it's possible, usually if the person is taking antibiotics for something else that happens to affect the STD. It just doesn't happen often. It's important to give every possible scenario. I did mention the importance of testing and treatment.

Chlamydia can clear up on its own but this is not always the case you mostly need antibiotics to clear it. If one partner gets rid of the infection and another doesnt it can get passed back anc forth.

Unlike other types of infections, you can get chlamydia more than once. This makes it possible for a women (for instance) to get chlamydia twice from a man if the the man hasn't been treated for it.
